D is over the games.
Dante “D” Vargas is home in Miami, to stay. He has a job he likes as the new head of bonds and bounty for Mack’s Security and after six years of making a mess with Trevor Mackentire, he’s ready—he thinks they’re both ready—for them to stop playing around and figure out if what they have is real. But Trevor is his boss’s son and his best friend’s younger brother so it’s not as easy as taking what he wants.
Especially when he also has to convince Trevor he’s over being afraid of his feelings and not everything is what it seems.
Trevor wants the D(ante).
Finally, healthy and whole again after the effects of a major car accident, Trevor’s tired of being treated like a child by everyone he loves. He’s been handling his own for a long time. But he’s lonely. Trevor knows he shouldn’t keep setting himself up to be hurt by D’s hot-and-cold routine, but he’s care for the man for what feels like forever, and lusted for him even longer.
Yeah, they set each other on fire, but old fears, old wounds, and being stuck in a game of push and pull makes it feel impossible to get it together. Maybe they should just leave well enough alone.
It’d be easier if every meeting, every taste didn’t leave them wanting more.
REVIEW:
“I’ve been writing probably the tropiest, most old-school M/M, smuttiest, shallowest book of my career. And it was WAY harder than I thought. But I kinda love it tho.” Kade Boehme. Not shallow! And I, Mr. Boehme, LOVED it!
Want is a whole new game for Kade Boehme. I have been a big fan of his sweet, romantic stories of men falling in love against the odds. Although this is a fun romp it is definitely way hotter! Dante “D” Vargas is back to take over his part at the company at his best friend’s family business, after being gone on a year-long assignment. He is also ready to take over his best-friend’s little brother, Trevor Mackentire. They have been friends forever and, at 32, D is ready to take the next step! The only problem is that D knows Trevor isn’t going to be as trusting of his intentions. He hasn’t shown the best track record as far as the two of them have been concerned. Trevor is 25 and tired of being treated like a porcelain doll and the baby of the family. Yes, he was in a horrific accident several years ago. And yes, he is the youngest child of the family. And yes, he’s a disappointment to his father since he came out and then didn’t want anything to do with the family business. But he is not a child. He is a grown man that has definitely filled out well. And he isn’t a push over. Want is the second-chance story of how these men forge forward to see if what has been brewing for years is the real deal.
The author is known for writing men that you can’t help but love. They are real men but have secrets and heartaches that they keep covered under a brave façade. And D and Trevor have some pretty big secrets. Secrets that they have kept from family and friends for years. They have had a secret attraction to each other for years. But Trevor has been too young and D’s best friend Evan’s little brother. I loved how both these men secretly fell for each other for years but hid their full attraction from each other. They are both alpha males and live by a code. What I really liked was that this was written with both of their thoughts and feelings being fully described. You got to know all their worries and fears and that endeared them even more. Evan disappointed me a bit but I guess that was to be expected. You don’t blindside your best friend.
I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised with how hot the sex was and dirty the talk. It was raw and passionate but perfect for this book. And let me tell you, Kade Boehme can write a damn good rough and hard sex scene! I didn’t see that coming. I was used to the sweet side of his writing and this was a very good surprise.
Obviously, you can tell that I loved this book! The men were well written and the sex was scorching. I really didn’t want this to end. Maybe we will get one of his “catch-up” novellas to let us know how they are doing in the future…hint, hint, hint??? This was a good, fast read that will not disappoint!
