After his brother was savagely beaten by their father, Jamie McCreary knows they can’t go back home. He, Colton, and Penn disappear one night, planning to eventually come back for his brothers. Life outside the bear world isn’t as easy as it looks, and it takes twelve years for the trio to finally find their way home.
On their way, they’re attacked while crossing through the reservation. Luckily, new Bear Mountain deputy Will Collins stumbles across the males and rushes them to the clinic—all while trying to ignore the deep-seated and confusing lust he feels for the eldest of the three.
Dr. Logan Sinclair doesn’t believe in brother bears or mates… but his beliefs are about to be tested when Jamie and Will run into his clinic. Can he let go of the past and embrace a new future before the alpha exiles three more McCrearys?
REVIEW:
Finally we find out what happened to the three missing McCreary boys! We’ve heard about them in previous books, but never knew their full story.
Jamie, Colton and Penn McCreary ran away one night after one of their abusive fathers beat Colton nearly to death. It has always been their plan to come back for the brothers they left behind and to deal with their abusers.
Well, times were tough out in the human world, and it has taken twelve years for them to earn enough to come back and get their brothers. But things won’t be that easy. They run into the werewolves on the nearby reservation on their way home, and they are barely able to make it back to Bear Mountain.
Then, when things should be good, they find that the bears of Bear Mountain don’t want anything to do with them! They are the thieving McCreary boys…good for nothings…socially undesirable outcasts.
The new Bear Mountain Deputy, Will Collins, who we met in book ten is also back. As is Logan, the Doctor / bear shifter that I mentioned in my review of book ten. If you remember, I said that I loathed him. Guess I spoke too soon. Turns out I really liked him this time! I really liked how several different things were tied up in this book. But it wouldn’t be Kelex if there weren’t hints right at the end of book about the next triad in the story! And did I mention there is a visit from the Bear Gods in this one??? This one is also quite a bit longer than the other installments, so more to love.
If you’ve been reading along, you will know that these books really need to be read in order. I recommend you give this series a try if you haven’t already. If you are into bear shifters, triads, male pregnancy and double penetration…this should be your go to series!
Finally, in closing, a personal observation. As a reviewer, I seriously thought I’d get bored with this series as it continued, but other than one book that I was a little less than excited about, the entire series is very readable and keeps my attention. It also keeps me anticipating the next installment!
