REVIEW:
After reading the first two books in this series, I was very excited about diving into the third instalment. In book one, Penny has to deal with being abducted and falling for her captor, something she did hard and fast. Book two, both ladies have to learn to live together in the ‘real world’, not secluded on an island, which in and of itself was full of trials.
As with the first two books the kink/erotic scenes are mentioned many times, but not given much page time. A paragraph and it’s over. There’s one scene right near the end where I got excited, literally my pulse sped up, and I was all … yes, yes, yes, time for these ladies to shine and for the author to turn up the heat – the scene wouldn’t have been gratuitous, it would have fitted the plot perfectly – but again it fizzled. I mention this as had I not been expecting some real heat in this installment, I wouldn’t have felt letdown when it wasn’t delivered.
Book two ended with Carter’s mother needing help, well Carter’s business contacts to help get a friend out of a bad situation. Thus led me to believe it would be a rather large driving force of book three. It wasn’t. In this book the angst is caused by mistrust directed at Penny. This is what I struggled with. Nick’s actions made no sense to me. And thankfully, nor did it to Carter once she found out what he was up to. By then the fallout had occurred, which resulted in Penny and Carter being estranged for a while. Again, after two books and these two ladies being so deeply in love, that their deep bond and love for each other leapt off the pages, I had a very hard time buying into the entire mistrust/miscommunication ordeal. With that, I’m in the minority with my opinion, so please check out all the 5 star reviews this story has already received.
I recommend this trilogy to readers who enjoy lesbian romances with some power exchange, and something a little different from the norm.
