BLURB:
As alpha to the coywolves, Lucas has done everything in his power to keep his struggling bloodline from failing. His entire focus has always been the betterment of his people, often putting them before himself. When he finally achieves legitimacy and a place for the coywolves in the senate, he also makes a demand for himself—the one and only male who’s made him burn. Duty has always been Jakob’s focus. He’s been captain of the king’s guard for centuries. His oath is all, but the temptation that Lucas presents makes him doubt everything. He refuses Lucas, unwilling to break the pledge he made to his king. When King Eirik grants Lucas’ claim on Jakob, a war begins between the two. Without his duty and service, Jakob loses sight of who he is and he refuses to surrender to the dominant alpha forcing him down a new path. Can the two find a way to have a future together, or will the human who enters their lives tear them apart?
REVIEW:
Lucas is the Alpha to the Coywolves and as such he’s dedicated his life to getting them acknowledged as a legitimate bloodline. Unfortunately, the majority of the senate members are totally against any such beings with “tainted” bloodlines. When King Eirick makes a deal with Lucas in exchange for Lucas and the other coywolves help in the war against the Hokkaido and their supporters the Coywolves dreams and aspirations are finally realised!
Jakob is the captain of the Kings guard a position he has held for centuries. The oath Jakob pledged to his King is everything to him. There isn’t anything as important to Jakob as his loyalty to his King but when he learns that King Eirick traded him to Lucas as part of their deal Jakob is devastated. He feels like he’s been betrayed by everyone. Jakob felt the instant attraction to Lucas when they met the first time but he would never let it go anywhere in case it came between him and his duty.
After Jakob resigns himself to going with Lucas to Sanctuary. Sanctuary was as close to a kingdom as the coywolves had. Built as a wolf preserve to hide their shifter nature to humans, the thousands of acres held a clinic where Lucas and his team of doctors and techs offered medical treatment to the coywolf nation, as well as any natural wolves’ humans occasionally brought his way. Jakob is exploring the grounds one day in his wolf form when he smells the most enticing scent he’s ever smelt. When he arrives at the fence surrounding Sanctuary he discovers a human man doing renovations to an old house but it’s not until the human comes over to pet him that Jakob realises that he’s found his blood-mate. Jakob is shocked because no human has mated a wolf in millennia. If the human is his mate, what about Lucas?
Ryan can’t believe the instant “connection” he feels for a wolf; he also can’t believe his dead uncle was so afraid of such beautiful animals. When Ryan gets an up close and personal introduction to one of the “wolves” from the sanctuary next door after he gets his paw caught in a trap left over from his uncle. Ryan meets Lucas when he takes the wolf back to the sanctuary to get help with the damage from the trap. Ryan can’t believe his eyes when the wolf turns into an incredibly good-looking man and Lucas can’t believe Jakob shifted in front of a human!
Lucas, Jakob and Ryan have a long way to go if they hope to have any sort of relationship! It’s not easy with so many forces against them, not only do they have the purists in the senate but they have the witches that were called in to put protective wards up around the town surrounding Sanctuary. You are going to have to read Crying Wolf to follow the twists and turns Lucas, Jakob and Ryan are forced to travel on the road to their very own Happy Ever After!!
