The Sarrans return home from Earth in triumph, having gained many new Earthen fems, coffee, chocolate, and cats. Senator Samuel Johnson joins his grandson Michael, his daughter Sara, and her Warrior Pair on Sarran. To his delighted surprise, he bonds irrevocably with Tarin, one of Sarran’s top engineers. Tarin had been bonded before and thought he would never experience a bond again, yet Sam’s love gives him a new lease on life. Now they only hope the Goddess has a fem for them. Then the Sarran Elders host a mixer for Sarran warriors to meet the Earthen fems. Margaret Mary O’Neil, Meg to her friends, is a talented woman who fled to Sarran like so many Earth women looking for a new life. When she meets Sam and Tarin, her life changes forever. But while things are looking up for the Sarrans, with new babies being born and Warrior Pairs settling down, their enemy the Zyptz are relentless in their efforts to wipe them out. When the Zyptz attack both Sarran and Earth, the mutual dependence between the two becomes ever more evident.
REVIEW:
The Sarran are an Alien race searching for ‘fems’ females who are able to bond and breed with their males. The Sarran mate in Triad, 2 males and one female. After the war with the Zyptz the Sarran were facing extinction until they find earth. They arrive on earth only to find that the Zyptz – a huge cockroach like creature, has unleashed the same toxin here that they released on Sarran years ago that wiped out theirs fems. When they arrive on earth the Sarran Warriors discover that earth is brimming with cats, the one animal they can mind-speak with. After the Sarran Warriors rounded up all the women and cats they could find this trip they put out the call for all other women and cats to be ready for when the next ship arrives.
Senator Samuel Johnson has decided to relocate to Sarran with his daughter and grandson since he is a widower with no attachments to or on earth. After they landed on Sarran, there is a welcome dinner where Sam meets Sarran engineer Tarin. Tarin had been bonded before but his bonded died in the war against the Zyptz so he never thought he would find another bond until he meets Sam. As they get to know each other they decide not to wait to find their third and while they are at the mixer the Sarran Elders have hosted so all of the Warriors can attempt to meet their fem they meet their third Margaret ‘Meg’ Mary O’Neil.
Meg is in her late thirty’s and still a virgin thanks to fact that she has been a virtual prisoner of her fathers. Meg has had her talent for clothing design all but squashed by her father, he continually told her she was wasting her time, her ideas are rubbish and all she was good for was looking after him so that was what she did. After being told she was useless all her life all Meg wants is to have a life where she is valued and relocating to Sarran is her first step in that direction. The Sarran males treat their fems with reverence even if they’re not bonded to anyone.
The path to becoming bonded isn’t as smooth sailing as they thought it would be. They have to deal with an attack on the earthen fems by the last holdouts of the purists that abhor the idea of Sarran blood being “contaminated” by earther fems! This is where Meg proves herself to be a natural-born leader and as such she gains a good measure of self-confidence.
As The Sarrans series continues and you learn more about the Sarrans and their world it makes you want to go to Sarran to live! I can’t wait for the next instalment.
