REVIEW:
Their Line of Drift is about Second Lieutenant Devon Roberts of Sniper Team Bravo – a team of sniper specialists in the Marines and Finn McGregor the love of his life whom Devon left behind.
After eight years in the Marines and barely making it out of their last mission alive Devon and his men decide it’s time to retire. It’s taken a five-year waiting period but Devon’s grandmother’ homestead, Redwood Farm is now legally his. Of course Devon’s grandmother never wanted Devon to have it but the distant relative she tried to leave it to couldn’t be found, so now it was Devon’s! When they arrive at the property the men can’t believe their eyes, it’s a two-story, eight-bedroom homestead on fifteen hundred acres of land. Land that Devon has plans to turn into the country’s leading tactical training facilities.
Finn has been using Devon’s old bedroom as his hiding spot from his father Silas beats him. Silas has been using his family as his own personal punching bags for a long time. The only reason Finn hasn’t left is because if he doesn’t allow Silas to beat him, he will start on his younger brother or mother. When Devon finds Finn trying to hide under his old bed he can’t believe his eyes. He finds it even harder when he gets a good look at Finn’s injury’s and when Silas turns up at the door it brings everything to a head for Finn.
Finn has to go home with Silas to protect his mother and brother. But, this time Silas is absolutely crazy with whiskey and madness and he doesn’t stop at just beating Finn he starts beating on his wife as well. What they don’t realise is that Devon and his men have followed and they’re not leaving without all of them. After Devon beats Silas up they gather up Finn, his mother and younger brother Nate and take them back to the homestead.
Both Finn and Devon are having a very hard time communicating about their past and why Devon just up and joined the Marines. Finn feels that Devon didn’t love him and joined the Marines to get away from him and Devon hasn’t realised that Finn doesn’t know he was blackmailed and threatened into leaving by his grandmother. It takes a lot of talking but they finally understand that they are both still in love with each other and they now have to work on strengthening their love. Things don’t go exactly to plan what with someone trying to kill them and on top of that they have to get the plans rolling to start building the tactical facility.
Their Line of Drift isn’t just another gay military romance story. It’s got enough twists, turns and surprises in it that you just know that the next books in the series can only get better. I love the way Maia Dylan has allowed all of the characters to develop and grow. The best part is that you know you’re going to get to keep up with all of the men throughout the series!
