REVIEW:
This is the second book in the Surrender trilogy and while the first book doesn’t end with a cliffhanger, it most definitely should be read before Surrender to Me, in my opinion.
The story picks up not long after where Surrender to Me left off, which sees a whole new set of trials and obstacles for our leading ladies to overcome. Penny has to deal with ongoing questions from suspicious friends, who she’s yet to convince she disappeared because she chose to take a sabbatical, rather than admitting the truth about being abducted and falling in love with her captor.
Carter finds herself juggling the running of her business, her crusade to put human traffickers behind bars, and keeping her new bride happy. Something which actually isn’t too difficult to do. The night of their wedding she tries to find the right time to tell Penny they won’t be going to Bora Bora the following day after-all. Penny’s perfect for Carter as she took most things extremely well. So much so, a time or two I wanted to tell her to grow a backbone. With that said there’s a very touching scene in the story when she becomes Carter’s rock.
This story has numerous erotic scenes, and I use the term erotic loosely. I made this comment in my review for book one – “I’ve tagged the story as erotica due to there being some adult content, but most scenes are rather brief.” Once again the sex scenes are extremely brief, frustratingly so. I understand fade to black sex, or off page scenes and have no issue with that. However, when I’m teased with talk of blindfolds, toys and restraints, only to have a rub of a finger and bang she’s climaxing – I feel ripped off. This is on me, as they say to each their own.
The author has an engaging writing style with well fleshed out characters! I adore these two ladies and can’t wait to read the grand finale. Bring on book 3!
