BLURB:
Only a few months from his fiftieth year, Nikolas is feeling a distinct wobble in his formidable certainties. Aleksey Primakov appears to have become irrelevant. All he needs, therefore, is to be dragged into an adventure with Devon’s answer to the three musketeers. How many times can he tell Ben and his moronic friends that a mutilated body buried on Dartmoor has nothing to do with them? But not only does this desecration slowly become their business, it cuts to the heart of the life they have created together. It’s just as well, perhaps, that generals never do actually retire…
REVIEW:
I think the magic that is Ben and Nikolas is the fact that they seem timeless, ageless. One of the issues that was raised in this book was Nikolas’s struggle with getting older. I think what makes these men so remarkable is the fact that you’d never be able to tell just how old Nikolas’s is and Ben too. They live their lives like 10+ years haven’t passed but you can tell with how strong their emotions run that time has played a significant part in how they feel.
It would not be a More Heat than the Sun book without all the usual mystery and violence. This book does not disappoint on that aspect. There’s action with Nikolas and Ben going all crazy commando which aside from their molten hot sex scenes are some of my favorite bits.
What I did find surprising was how slow this one started for me. I found myself struggling to get into it but that did change pretty early on which is not surprising when it comes to me and this series.
One things is abundantly clear this book does not disappoint. I loved the dynamic between Molly, Ben, and Nikolas. I loved the bond Squeezy and Nikolas have formed. I love that no matter how much they all argue or disagree they’re unbelievably loyal. The kind of loyalty that makes you envious and I think that’s a kudos to John Wiltshire. Being able to pull out this much emotion in a reader is a gift.
Amazing addition to the series. Can’t wait for more….
