A warm welcome to Thursday Euclid who joins us today to talk about her new release together with Clancy Nacht “Wyatt’s Recipes for Wooing Rock Stars”.
In writing our new novel, Wyatt’s Recipes for Wooing Rock Stars, Clancy Nacht and I faced a fun challenge. Well, mostly I faced the challenge. Clancy’s not a cook, but I love spending time in the kitchen. So when we undertook a foodie romance, defining titular wooer Wyatt’s palate, skill set, and influences fell to me.
Wyatt Parker’s a home cook competing in a high pressure culinary competition show for the chance to work as rock star Tully Randolph’s personal chef. Tully’s recently passed mama was famous for her homestyle Southern comfort food, something he’s been missing and fears he’ll never find again. The restaurants he goes to just don’t compare with what he’s used to, and it’s not just his belly going unfed—it’s his soul. Good home cooking answers a deep need in those of us who love food, satisfying so much more than our appetite. And in Wyatt, I needed to create a hero who could win over a rock star with nothing but his food.
Though it’s never made explicit in the novel, we imagined that Tully and his mama were from Atlanta—the city in which Clancy and I conceived this story—while Wyatt would be from my native Texas Gulf Coast. The nature of the show’s challenges require spur of the moment decisions, and the distinct regional flavor of Texas’s Southern comfort comes into play in most of Wyatt’s recipes. Whether it’s going for Frito pie as a midnight snack—complete with Texas’s state dish of chili prepared quick and dirty—or serving up a pitcher of Micheladas when the other contestants go for wine or cocktails, Wyatt’s roots play a major role in the way he romances Tully. Though Wyatt’s TexMex influenced palate may not be just like Mama Grace’s, the rich, hearty meals he puts on Tully’s table remind Tully of hers and help ease the ache for something he’ll never have again.
If you’ve never been blessed to eat good Southern food, hie you to Atlanta immediately. And if you’ve never eaten Texan comfort food, check out my hometown of Houston. There’s something magical about the way we do food that sticks to your ribs and soothes your spirit. And if you can’t make it to Houston or Atlanta—or just can’t get enough—pick up a copy of Wyatt’s Recipes and indulge your appetite. Wyatt would love to feed you up.
And, if you’re in the mood for a little something special you can make at home, check out Wyatt’s peach cobbler recipe: http://dreamspinnerpress.com/blog/2016/04/19/peach-cobbler-thursday-euclid-clancy-nacht/

Wyatt Parker has a good life—he owns his own construction company, his own house, and he eats home-cooked meals every day. But cooking for one while watching the foodie network is more than lonely. When he learns about an upcoming reality show centered on becoming the personal chef for his favorite rock star, Wyatt leaps at the chance to audition. Tully Randolph is the drummer for the band Unusual Potatoes. With a chef for a mom, love of good food runs in the family. When he’s asked to host a cooking competition, he’s all in—especially after he meets Wyatt, who is just the kind of big, hairy guy who gets Tully’s juices flowing. With a heart as big as he is, Wyatt wows Tully with his skills in the kitchen… and in the bedroom. But if their relationship is found out, Wyatt could be drummed out of the competition—and out of Tully’s life. All the ingredients for a happy future are in front of them, and they just need to figure out how to bring everything together.
