BLURB:
Lone wolf Nitro Blackwood doesn’t like people. As far as he’s concerned, the human world doesn’t exist. But for a few short days every year, the heat takes over and the undeniable urge to mate draws him to San Francisco and out of his self-imposed solitude. He’s willing to deal with all the foul odors, congestion and general misery for some bump and grind action.
Computer programmer Peter Callaghan likes his quiet, boring life. But like every year since his seventeenth birthday, a rampaging need to screw every guy with a heartbeat takes over. During this time, he finds he can climb out of his shell and be a normal, horny and slightly sarcastic twenty-five-year-old. Peter knows the hulking man with a biker’s name will go down in history as his hottest bang, but Peter gets more than he bargained for. When the man shows up several weeks later, raving about pregnancies and mythological creatures, Peter realizes he’s being held captive by a crazy person.
Except, things start to get weirder. After escaping, Peter is chased down by a rabid wolf, and Nitro pops out of nowhere to rescue him sporting fur, fangs and claws. As Peter witnesses the unimaginable, he realizes Nitro might be telling the truth about more than him being a shape-changing beast. Having been thrust into a mysterious and bizarre world, Peter is forced to rely on Nitro and something long buried inside Peter begins to awaken.
But could they possibly have a future together?

REVIEW:
This is an Mpreg shifter romance about Peter, a seemingly human, introverted computer programmer who leads a boring, lonely, pretty much predictable life. The only indication that something about him that’s different is his occasional need to go out to pick up and have random sex with guys. He doesn’t understand why he needs to do this, only that he does.
Nitro is also a lone alpha wolf who lives in the woods on the outside of San Francisco who like Peter, ventures out to satiate his mating heat.
Thee two hook up in an alley and voilà: their night of lust results in Peter getting pregnant.
The story falls along predictable lines with Peter finding out more about himself, realizing he’s not as human as he thought he was, him being in danger from other wolves, and so on but it was really very nice.
There was magic, witches, feral sadistic siblings..the whole bit. It wasn’t bad read at at all. It was okay; a nice, quick little read.
I was leery about how the writer was going to write the birth scene. I was a bit worried of being too grossed out were Nitro and Peter were discussing the how’s of it but it turned out to be okay.
I don’t venture too much into the Mpreg world but I must admit to being intrigued by this it. It’s always interesting to see how the author writes a man being pregnant. I must admit that I kind of like this sub genre; I find it fascinating.
This was a nice little novella. The writing was smooth and although it wasn’t super exciting, it wasn’t the least bit boring. The characters are interesting, I liked Peter and Nitro a lot and thought they were a perfect fit. I would like to see which direction the author plans on taking with the next novella in the series.
If you’re looking for a nice little novella, something to pleasantly pass the time with, pick this up.
