AUTHOR: Kelex
PUBLISHER: Twisted E-Publishing, LLC
LENGTH: 157 Pages
RELEASE DATE: April 17, 2016
BLURB:
Joshua Running Bear’s life is in turmoil. The thousand-year-old shaman no longer hears the voices of their ancestors, not after his successor is born. He’d expected to die when they no longer had need of him, so he’s surprised when he begins to grow younger by the day.
But not as surprised as he is when he finds a new mate—and a female bear shifter at that. The closer he tries to get, the more Hannah pushes him away. Not all is as it seems with the shebear, and he’ll soon learn the deep, dark secret she holds close.
Joshua also feels a pull to the reservation’s sheriff, Mattheu. Mattheu’s not his mate, but there’s something pushing them together. Only adding more craziness to Joshua’s life, a killer is on the hunt for Mattheu.
Can Joshua keep them safe long enough to claim them both?
REVIEW:
I’m really liking the ever more diverse community of Bear Mountain. I wasn’t sure how the author would follow up on the last book, A Beta for Two Bears, which as I said in my review was probably my personal favorite of the series so far, but I wasn’t at all surprised when I heard this installment was the story of Hannah, the female bear mentioned in that previous book.
Joshua Running Bear is old…like really old…like the oldest bear shifter alive. But as the blurb mentions, he has been getting younger ever since his successor was born. He now looks younger than his grandson, the Bear Mountain Sheriff.
Mattheu is the Sheriff on the nearby Indian Reservation who is on an intersecting course with both Hannah and Joshua. But all three have secrets. What is Hannah’s? Let me tell you, it was a definite plot twist. Mattheu’s was a surprise, and Joshua’s age and background are finally answered in this installment. We had seen hints in previous books, but never had the details.
Can three oddballs come together into a triad? What about that annoying, totally pissed me off while reading character, Logan? Will he manage to derail them before they even come together? And who is out to kill Mattheu, and why?
I really liked this one. It had mysteries, it had big plot twists, and it had diversity. I’d recommend it to anyone who is reading this series. Now I’m ready for Ronan’s story, and since I’ve forgiven him already, Logan’s story, oh, and Willibi…I’m hoping he gets some action as well! If you aren’t reading this series, and you’re into bear shifters, then you should be. It is a series with lots of double penetration, MPREG, and family and community drama. It is a serial, in my opinion, more than a series. You should read the books in order, as the characters carry from installment to installment.
