BLURB:
Lucas Barnett and Gabriel Stewart didn’t have it easy as kids. They were only trying to deal with bad situations at home when they became lifelines for each other. Their pipe dream was to someday meet in LA, where Lucas would design skyscrapers, and Gabriel would learn to fly. But then Gabriel disappeared without so much as a goodbye, and Lucas got himself in trouble with the law.
Five years later, both men are at a loss when they run into each other at a Hollywood bar. Lucas is still angry, but it’s not as if Gabriel could control how his mind and body had betrayed him. Being found on the ledge of that bridge had changed everything.
The attraction is immediate, but it’s more than their inability to keep their hands off each other. Neither man expects the fierce connection pulling them together. Unfortunately, ignoring their problems doesn’t make them disappear. Gabriel’s internal struggles are serious…dangerous. And no matter how much Lucas wants it to be true, saving Gabriel won’t make up for not being able to save his mom. If they don’t find the strength to face their own demons before the darkness takes hold, they risk more than just losing each other forever.
REVIEW:
Well this turned out to be a magical partnership of authors. Wow, the blurb for this books doesn’t pull any punches. You know just from reading it that it will be painful and it was but it was awfully beautiful, hopeful, and passionate. These two characters rise up from really terrible circumstances and you get the impression they are really trying to succeed and be better than what they came from. Together they prove that everyone deserves happiness.
Lucas and Gabriel meet as kids on an internet chat site. Kindred spirits they connect and form a very close friendship. Unfortunately circumstances in their lives cause trouble for them while trying to maintain that friendship. They lose touch and years pass.
Fate or maybe just pure luck plays a role and they are reunited. But Gabriel still has issues he hasn’t worked through completely and Lucas is still very angry. Together they try to start over by just being friends but they’re connection proves just as strong as it was before and their feelings grow deeper.
The road to happiness is not easy for these two however. Both men have to learn to forgive, recover, and try to heal from their pasts.
It was sad reading through the hardships these two went through but it was shockingly obvious that together they were stronger. They were beautiful and I loved reading how it all come together full circle.
I really enjoyed how the authors included the emails within the story. It really allowed the reader to see a clearer picture of what these two went through.
I’m familiar with both authors and they did not disappoint. There were a few times where the story dragged a bit but it always ended up coming together.
I really enjoyed this book and especially this author pairing. Looking forward to other books in the series.
