Hi this is Caitlin Ricci and today I’d like to talk about my new novel from Dreamspinner Press, About Last Night. This is the second book in the Thornwood series but really the order that they’re read in really doesn’t matter.
In most of my series the books build on each other and there’s some connection between them. In this series I wanted there to be a few connections between characters, but I wanted that to be extremely minor. In Thornwood the town really is the thing holding this series together and it’s been great to have this little world plopped down in Colorado only about an hour from my house. The guys come into Denver sometimes, where I live, and I’ve been able to pull things from the places I love and bring them into the series.
Rosie’s diner is based on a diner by the same name here in Denver, only with a few of my touches put into it. I wanted to bring Rosie’s into Thornwood because the last time I saw my dad before he died was when he came to Denver to visit us. His hotel was right across the street from Rosie’s and he went there every morning before I was awake to come get him and he ordered scrambled eggs, two pieces of bacon, and french toast. For a week straight he had this breakfast and by the third day everyone in there knew his name and how he liked his coffee. He called it his kitchen away from home, only it was better, he said, because he didn’t have to do any of the cleaning.
It’s memories like these that I wanted to build Thornwood on. The diner with the best milkshakes I’ve ever had. The tiny police station that’s actually built into an old office building. The road trip I took with my dad that summer where we went from Denver to Grand Junction and he showed me all the little mountain towns that I had never seen even though I’ve lived in Colorado most of my life. There are a lot of my memories with him wrapped up in Thornwood and to me it’s the best of those tiny towns tucked into the mountain all rolled up in one place that I can visit anytime because it’s the town I fell in love with first and then the people came next. Whenever I want to go back to Thornwood, and any time I miss my dad, all I have to do is write another novel set there. Thornwood has plenty more stories to tell and a lot more people that deserve to fall in love in it.
Thank you for spending time with me today. I hope you have a good rest of your week.

Blurb:
Before jumping into his first semester of college, Thomas Maloney decides to lose his virginity at a party to a stranger he’s sure he’ll never see again. Only the next day, he’s surprised to learn the same one-night stand will be sharing his dorm room. Thomas considers himself lucky, but his new roommate—not so much.
Closeted as they come, football jock Remington “Rem” Daniels is on track for a shot at the pros. Rem tries to play it cool and avoid falling for the confidently gay Thomas, which could hurt his chances. Dealing with their constant need to get in bed together wouldn’t be so hard if Rem didn’t have a girlfriend and Thomas didn’t have a conscience.
When she delivers news that will change Rem’s life forever, Thomas knows it’s time to move back home to Thornwood, Colorado. But neither the distance nor knowing Rem belongs to someone else helps Thomas get over him. Rem’s feelings haven’t changed either. When it comes down to love or football, Rem will have to make the hardest choice of his life and hope Thomas will still be waiting for him when he does.

Caitlin was fortunate growing up to be surrounded by family and teachers that encouraged her love of reading. She has always been a voracious reader and that love of the written word easily morphed into a passion for writing. She comes from a military family and the men and women of the armed forces are close to her heart. She also enjoys gardening and horseback riding in the Colorado Rockies where she calls home with her wonderful husband and their two dogs. Her belief that there is no one true path to happily ever after runs deeply through all of her stories.
