With a scorned ex and a very dangerous job thrown into the mix, Cayson’s happiness and all of Quick’s promises may not be as easy to keep as they’d hoped.

Promises Part 2 could easily be read as a standalone, but in my opinion you should start with Promises Part 1 because the characters are the same in both books. In Part 2, our focus moves to Roman “Quick” Webb, the business partner of Duke from Part 1, and also the father of the other MC in that book, Vaughn, Duke’s love interest. The other MC in this installment is Doctor Cayson Chauncey, who performed the surgery that was a big part of Part 1. So enough background, if you need a refresher, check out my review of Part 1, here.
In this new installment our focus moves over to Roman and Cayson. Cayson has had it bad for Roman since the events in Part 1, but he thinks Roman is straight. Roman knows that he has had bisexual thoughts from time to time, but has never acted on them. What will happen when the two realize there might be something there that they are missing? What will happen when Cayson’s sort of Ex, who was never more than a casual hook-up buddy, decides he isn’t willing to let him go? Lots of drama and an interesting, fast moving storyline ensue and I found myself at the end of the book before I knew what hit me! I usually have that problem with books from this author. They are so well written that I can’t put them down!
I loved the story of Roman and Cayson. I’ll be honest…to me, there seemed to be a lot more sex in this one than in Ms. Via’s other books, or it might be my imagination because Dani also read the book and she thought it had just enough! Whichever of us was correct, the storyline didn’t suffer at all. And let me clarify so that you don’t take me wrong, Ms. Via writes very believable sex scenes which I never feel the urge to skim like I do with some other authors! 😉
Regardless of my own personal opinion on the amount of sex scenes…as usual this lady can’t write a bad book. I enjoyed the cameo appearances of characters from one of her other series in this book, and it has made me want to go back and read that other series again! Darn you Ms. Via…I have to read other authors’ books from time to time as well you know!!!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is already a fan of A.E. Via. If you’re not a fan yet, pick up one of her books and you will be. They are standalone in most cases, but like I said, I’d recommend you pick up Part 1 and Part 2 and read them both!
