A warm welcome to author SJD Peterson joining us today to talk about her new release “Bound” , the final part in her Guards of Folsom series.
Welcome Jo 🙂
Guards of Folsom: Book Five
Tek Cain & Jamie Ryan work at the Guards of Folsom BDSM club. After two years on the run from their old motorcycle club and the Feds, Tek & Jamie are finally able to relax and enjoy their new life in New York City. But the past won’t stay buried, and when the MC resurfaces, it’s Jamie who pays the price. Tek and the rest of the members at the Guards of Folsom must work together to get back one of their own.
In this, the final installment in the Guards of Folsom series, everyone must come together, bound as one in their quest to find Jamie and bring him home once and for all.

Writing Series
When I sat down to write Lorcan’s Desire, I honestly thought it would be one standalone novel. It truly took on a life of its own and went to places I never dreamed. When I got to 90k and the story still wasn’t told, I made the decision to turn it into a trilogy. Silly me for thinking that was the solution. My characters are boss and they had other plans. Hence, the series Whispering Pines was born.
The same thing happened with the Guards of Folsom. I set out to write a free story for Ty & Blake since they were the only couple from The Whispering Pines who got a Happily For Now rather than Happily Ever After. Bound, the 5th and final book, brings yet another unexpected series to an end.
So, my question is, do you prefer series or standalone books? Not that I could have changed the path my guys took, nor would I want to, but I’m curious. I personally love series and I find myself re-reading the first ones in anticipation of a new release. Do you do that or do you wait until the series is complete before reading them?

When not reading or writing, Jo can be found close to the heater checking out NHL stats and watching the Red Wings kick a little butt. Can’t cook, misses the clothes hamper nine out of ten tries, but is handy with power tools.

Hi Jo! I prefer series too. In fact I just started a re-read of Guards of Folsom before I read Bound. Depending on the series, I prefer to wait until it’s complete before I start it. However, if I just can’t wait, then I do the re-read when the next comes out. I’m gonna miss these guys. 🙁
Congratulations on the new release, Jo and thank you for a chance of the giveaway.
I have no preference, really – series or standalone, I’d pick them if they interest me. Although sometimes a book in a series can be read as a standalone, often the continuing flow/progress might be lost if I read them in random order. So I usually prefer a sort/medium series instead of a long one.
I read both series and stand alone. I don’t really have a preference. I don’t usually wait for a series to finish before reading them, but I did do that with one series because I knew that the next book ended in a way that I knew that I’d want the next book to start right away.
Congratulations on the new book! Thank you for the giveaway chance as well!

I like both! In series, I tend to pick the ones that give supporting characters in one story a whole book in the next…
I like both. I tend to read standalone more though because I don’t quite have the time to tackle a long series unless I’ve started to read it from when the first book was released. But I love a good series when I make the time to read one.
I like both kinds of books. I also like series where it’s the same MCs throughout because we really get to see more into their lives and personalities.
Congrats on the release!
I love both
This series is on my TBR/wishlist, now that it’s complete, I’ll have to push it more toward getting read instead of catching dust.
I read both. But love series and do re-read the beginnings before the newest release comes out.
Well, I love both series and stand-alone novels. though I admit I think I read more series in other genres than romance (e.g. urban fantasy or mystery/suspense). But I totally have no preference of one over the others.
I enjoy books whether they are stand alone or in a series BUT because I enjoy them, I want them to be in a series so I can continue enjoying the couple / group of friends / situation etc, for much longer.
