REVIEW:
I discovered this book, a free read, in a book club I belong to, and asked if I could do a review for it because I loved it so much. I have to say, the fact that this book is free to everyone, is just simply amazing. It is a well written story of a very closeted man who is not only attracted to, but envious, of his openly gay work associate. Being the son to the owner makes him feel like he has to hide his sexual orientation, which has complicated his relationships in the past.
The side story of the advertising world was very interesting. I really found it fascinating how these two men put their spins on how they could land this account, a very lucrative and prestigious account, with only sixty-five hours to put together an entire presentation. I particularly loved that they actually put together two presentations, one for heterosexual couples and one for gay men. The product was also fascinating, condoms, lube and sex toys…which they were given samples of!!! How much fun is that? As you can imagine, there are some pretty great sex scenes to accompany those samples! I was touched by the one spin on the campaign with how much it can cost someone who doesn’t spent the less than one dollar for protection. It was very poignant and eye-opening. Not something you will forget soon, at least not me.
The part that really got to me was how Cameron felt he had to hide his gay orientation. Especially when his dad hired Lucas, when he openly professed that he was gay and questioned whether they had a problem with that. It was touching to see Lucas help guide Cameron and comfort him. His patience with the situation was endearing and I didn’t want their story to end. I only wish that we might have heard some of Cameron’s side of the story.
When I went on Goodreads for some of the information for this review I discover that there was also a free Christmas outtake. It was the perfect finish to this wonderful story.
