Jason Davis can handle a breakup. And an overwhelming mortgage. And a struggling business. And the excruciating pain that keeps him up at night thanks to a shoulder injury. But all of it at once? Not so much. When his shoulder finally pushes him to a breaking point, Jason takes a friend’s advice and gives acupuncture a try.
Acupuncturist Michael Whitman is a single dad struggling to make ends meet. When a mutual friend refers Jason as a patient, and Jason suggests a roommate arrangement to alleviate their respective financial strains, Michael jumps at the opportunity.
But Jason soon finds himself regretting it – he’s too damn attracted to Michael, and living with him is harder than he thought it’d be. In fact, the temptation to act on his feelings would almost be too much if not for the fact that Michael is straight. Or at least, that’s what their mutual friend claims.
(Note: This is a revised second edition, with minor additions.)
REVIEW:
This sweet story is part of the Tucker Springs series and I have to say that this is a heartbreakingly beautiful story. You have these two men who are each going thru their own trials and yet…they find a semblance of happiness.
Jason…whose POV this story is told thru has had some serious issues these last couple of years. His business partner is gone as well as his long-term partner. So, now he’s got this house whose mortgage is killing him…a business that is also struggling and he’s got an old injury that keeps flaring up and causing him all kinds of trouble. Jason is now the king of one-nighters…something to take the edge off. Jason is a really good guy who really just wants to succeed. Succeed in his business and be able to pay off his debts.
Michael is a struggling single father who is having his own issues. Michael’s business is doing ok, but not as well as he’d like. He’s also has some financial issues that he’s going thru. Michael is a man that is having some issues in dealing with the fact that he’s attracted to men. He was raised by conservative parents and tried to be who his parents wanted it to be. Michael struggles but his really is this great guy.
There was a lot of wanting to be together and make things work, yet there was the fear of being honest with Michael’s ex-wife and son. A story of being truthful to yourself and those in your life about who you are and who you are attracted too. It’s the way that Michael goes back and forth regarding his feelings and want for Jason. I liked the way the story ended. I like that it is open to possibilities.
