Life is about making choices. For nineteen-year-old Jalen Marten, the choices he makes will not only affect his life, but the life and career of his superstar tennis player boyfriend, Austin Suter. Jalen spends the summer following Austin around the pro tennis circuit playing the supportive friend as Austin adjusts to life on tour.
Keeping secrets from people is hard enough, but when the media, a horde of new fans, and staff and family who all think they know what’s best for Austin are involved, it’s even worse. Coming out to the world is not an option, so Jalen is forced to hide in the shadows. It doesn’t always work, and Jalen begins to wonder if they should stay together. The next choice could make or break them as a couple, and both men wonder why love has to be so complicated
Review:
Can I just start with saying I am blow away by this more than fabulous read! I couldn’t put it down and I wanted to keep going.
We start in this story where book 1 left off. We find Austin working the circuit and we are experiencing the show of love and affection between him and Jalen. But even more we get to see the struggles Jalen is experiencing and is trying to overcome.
Out of the blue, or at least for me , this story went in a complete different very unexpected direction, focussing on Jaelen and his maturing, I would like to call it. His quest to find himself and work on what’s important for him.
I do believe the author took a risk in proceding this way, by taking of the focus off Austin and Jalen together to mainly Jalen and the people he meets and the circumstances he is under.
It turned out brilliant. I totally got sucked in to the whole complete deal. I honestly started to feel emotionally involved with the people Jalen met, stated cheering for certain individuals, grieving for others and along with all of that, I just really wanted to hold Jalen.
The ending brings a realism and very carefully worked out way to sum up the story and brings us back to where it all started with Austin and Jalen. I certainly hope there will be more.
I can really say that if author Teegan Loy does an m/f spin of on this one about Evan and a certain young lady it would be the first m/f book I would read in like ages, and that is saying something 🙂
The development of Jalen, the way he sees himself, the people he meets, with struggles and friendship and the loyalty rocked my world. Where I was already impressed with part one of this series, this part two lays down a new, different, unexpected layer on top of that.
Highly recommended series!
