Welcome Kelly 🙂
Coming March 1st, 2016 to an online everywhere near you…
Kelly Wyre’s latest installment of the New Amsterdam Series:
EARTHQUAKES: A New Amsterdam Story
And now a word or five hundred from the author:
Earthquakes is very near and dear to me for all kinds of reasons, chief among them is that I’m finally returning to these grungy, corrupted, delightfully sinful city streets. Let’s see… what might you like to know about my favorite kinky playground?
- New Amsterdam started with a story about a psychopath and his pet victim. I never finished that novel (look, it was starting to disturb me and that’s just all kinds of bizarre and wrong), and instead went on to do a role play that turned into Hearts Under Fire, the first New Amsterdam book.
- New Amsterdam is a parallel universe. It has technology that we don’t have (like Clark’s complete eye transplant), and the cities are slightly different: New Amsterdam instead of New York, Charles Towne instead of Charleston. Anybody watch the TV show, Fringe? It’s like that.
- And seriously, there’s something in the water: everybody is gay. AND KINKY.
- Okay, not EVERYbody. Tim Akkard isn’t gay. Though he is kinky.
- Bad example. But! Miss Jillian in Earthquakes isn’t kinky, but she is…
- Fine. Medea in Earthquakes isn’t gay. But Lord, she could very well be…
- I give up. Water. Don’t drink it. Or do. And enjoy. 😀
- Anyway, New Amsterdam is a combination city: it has New York City’s unique borough system, Chicago’s organized crime and political machine, and Gotham’s darkness.
- The boroughs in New Amsterdam are: Mirbest, Gehnbatton, Burnshead, Denhollow, and Ridgemont. Gehnbatton is the roughest, Mirbest is the… best… and Burnshead is where Kris Fawkes hangs out. Fair bets you probably don’t want to go there.
- I’m working on a map. Or, rather, I’m asking an artist to work on a map. And wishing her the very best of luck. As AF Henley can tell you, I’m not terribly reliable when it comes to making maps.
- The books/stories of New Amsterdam are: Hearts Under Fire, “A New Deal,” Winter’s Knight, Shot in the Dark, “Luck in the Making,” and… Earthquakes! Should you peruse the world, I do hope you enjoy!

All right, enough of these shenanigans and stall tactics… you wanted to see a cover, right? GD Leigh did this one, (as well as the covers for FIGHT and Meet Me at the Gates) and oh man… it’s incredible (Leigh’s work always is). Captures the look/feel of the world and uses one of my favorite colors – purple.
I do so love all the color shades of bruise.
May I present… Earthquakes: A New Amsterdam Story’s cover:
Earthquakes: A New Amsterdam Story:
Ellis Parker is a lucky man: he escaped his persecuting family, survived his tour of duty, and met Maxwell Clark in the city of New Amsterdam. Clark showed Ellis more than the ropes: Clark helped Ellis figure out who he is – a gay submissive with a massive fixation on a beautiful, mysterious ballet dancer named Bryn Rothe. Ellis knows a Good Man when he sees one, and he wants nothing more than to score a first date with Bryn. Little does Ellis know that Bryn has a violent past that is crawling out of shallow graves to haunt him. Even his hectic schedule and beloved stage aren’t enough to distract him. It’s impossible for Bryn to figure out how he feels about Ellis with his demons between them, but when Ellis saves Bryn not once but twice, Bryn is forced to admit that there’s something about Ellis that Bryn might not merely want but need. Together, they journey to the scene of Bryn’s original crime – Charles Towne, South Carolina. There they will dig up secrets that might explain Bryn’s tortured life but might also be his – and Ellis’s – undoing.
