The world isn’t ready for a rock star werewolf, but Josh Oakley can’t stop biology. When his brother sends sexy wolf shaman Gerwulf to help him, instinct is too mild a word for how he feels. Gerwulf calls to his animal in a way that defies logic. Gerwulf knows Josh is his mate the moment they meet, but he doesn’t like guys and he doesn’t intend to bond with anyone. He’ll help the musician control his wolf, but getting too close isn’t his intention. Besides, he wouldn’t know what to do with a man in his bed. Of course, shifters can’t dodge fate—a crisis forces Josh and Gerwulf to accept their connection just in time to save Forst Pack from an old enemy. When biology ties them together beyond even a mating bond, will they be able to move past their fear and into a future that holds more than they ever expected?
REVIEW:
Josh Oakley is now the lead singer in his rock band The Bad Oak Boy’s. He’s taken over the position for his brother Ryan for the rest of the current tour. As far as Josh knew he was human, unlike his brother Ryan who discovered he was mate and co-leader to the Forst Pack’s Leader Bardulf. Apparently, not every sibling will be able to change into his animal, the ones that do normally have to meet their true mate before they get an inkling they’ll be able to change. And then he starts having the weirdest dreams, more like nightmares and when he wakes up there is always “dog” hair in his bed!
When Shaman-Heir Gerwulf gets the news he was needed to help an adult whose wolf is trying to make an appearance with no mate in sight and he’s never changed before, he is understandably very nervous. He’s not very well liked in the pack because of his parents and the fact that he was an asshole when he was a teenager. To make matters worse he’s being sent to help the co-leader’s brother Josh who he humiliated himself in front of when he was sixteen!
When Josh answers his door Gerwulf can hardly believe it, they’re mates! He’s devastated because he’s straight, he’s never had these feelings for anyone other than women. Josh doesn’t care, he’s known he was bi-sexual since he was a teenager. When he gets a whiff of Gerwulf he can’t believe his instant reaction to him and it means that his brother was right, when you come across your mate you know instantly who they are! It takes Josh quite a while to convince Gerwulf that it’s perfectly fine for two men to be mates. When Gerwulf’s mentor comes up missing, they have to leave the tour and return to pack lands to help search for him. This is when Gerwulf and Josh discover that Gerwulf is in fact an Alpha Shaman, the strongest Shaman there can ever be and he realises he will need every bit of his new-found strength. It is whilst they are fighting for their lives that everyone discovers that Gerwulf is pregnant through the magic gifted to him when his mentor died.
I must say I enjoyed Alpha Shaman a lot more that I thought I would as I’ve never read an m-preg book before! The only disappointing thing about this book is that you don’t actually go through the entire birth scene. I wanted to at least read about a male giving birth! If you’ve never read an m-preg book before then The Bad Oak Boys is definitely the series to start with.
