Hello, my lovelies,
I haven’t been around for a couple of months so Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
So… How to Become a Famous Rock Star. Apparently this is an idea for a good blog post. I think it would be an awesome thing to write about, unfortunately I haven’t got a clue how an almost fifty, grey-haired overweight MM author can become the next Susan Boyle. I know she isn’t a rock star but she can sing. Me – I have a voice like a cow in pain.
So how can you become a famous rock star, an internet sensation or sell the next Fifty Shades of Grey?
I looked up how to become a rock star. This was the first article I came across.
- Step 1: Pick your poison. Think about what you want to do and be as a rock star before moving on. …
- Step 2: Learn your instrument. …
- Step 3: Perfect your look. …
- Step 4: Break into the local scene. …
- Step 5: Advertise wisely. …
- Step 6: A note about fans. …
- Step 7: Get ready, get set.
Funnily enough this is seven years old, almost as long as I’ve been writing. All great advice and the points could be tailor-made for writers, except perhaps step 2 (pyjamas is my ‘look’), but it’s old and there’s no mention of social media. Even head-bangers know how to use YouTube.
And how about becoming an internet sensation?
- Make YouTube catchy videos
- Start a fanclub
- Have a social media presence
- Have a funny Facebook page
I think most of this is self-explanatory and also out of date. Where is the mention of instagram, snapchat or Vine?
The one thing I noticed is all this information is out there, but most of it is out of date. Thanks to the Internet and social media the world is changing quickly. It’s easy to follow the same path year in, year out. I am that person. This year I’m going to try something different. I’m not sure what yet, but I have a huge whiteboard with PLANS written on it. The first things I’m going to do is research, reasearch. and look for up to date articles.
Have you got into a rut? Do you have plans to change? Let me know. You tell me yours and I’ll tell you mine. I’m a great cheerleader.
