BLURB:
Fredrik is back from college and trying to stay out of his power-hungry brother’s way, until his brother takes a prisoner for his pleasure. Unable to tolerate his family’s cruelty, Fredrik overcomes his fear to help her escape back to her pack. There, he meets Christopher, and their instant attraction tells him Christopher is the one. However, since the threat of his brother remains, Fredrik is reluctant to pursue a relationship.
Christopher is still figuring out his place in the pack and has been living on his own to avoid making waves with his brother, Mikael. Now he’s met his soulmate, and he’ll do anything to take care of his love, including rejoining the pack.
With coaxing, Fredrik accepts his feelings, and Christopher’s pack gives him the home he’s never had. But Fredrick soon realizes he should keep running. His brother is on his tail and will stop at nothing to obtain the power he craves, especially when he realizes the source of the power could be Fredrik himself.
REVIEW:
Sometimes I get really nervous when I pick up a second book in a series that I reviewed the first book of. Only because I read so many darned books, that sometimes I have trouble remembering the first book. That wasn’t the case here, and even if it had been, Mr. Greyson does such a great job with background reminder hints, that it all flowed right back to me.
We are again visiting the Yellowstone Wolves, a short time after the shakeup that happened with the packs in Challenge the Darkness. The bad Alpha, Anton, is gone, but his son Juneau has seized power and is very much a despot king type of Alpha, like his father. Evil rules the pack. Juneau’s half-brother Fredrik though, is nothing like him. To start with, he is gay, something that Juneau despises and Juneau has decreed that he will be forced to breed pups.
When a sixteen year old girl is brought into the house, tied up and ready for Juneau to have his non-consensual way with her, Fredrik jumps in, they escape and run to the girl’s home pack. This pack you will remember if you read the first book. It is the pack led by Mikael and Denton, who we came to know and love in that first book. Who is this guy Fredrik meets named Christopher? And why does he smell so good?
Enough spoilers. Mr. Greyson has again given us an interested fast paced shifter tale. I’m really enjoying his take on wolf shifters and I’m guessing he will be continuing this series, since there was a pretty large hint towards the end of this installment of a possible couple for the next one?
I recommend this book, as I do all of Mr. Greyson’s books that I’ve read so far. The book is well written and well edited, like all of his books. The world building and character development is very good, and even the background characters have lots of substance. If you are into m/m wolf shifter stories, this series would be a good one for you.
