BLURB:
Psychiatrist Dr. Byron Hamilton has been bringing one of his young patients to ride the therapy horses at Micah Orion’s stables for nearly a year. Week after week, the two men eye each other, but never exchange more than pleasantries.
It’s Micah who finally takes the bull by the horns and approaches Byron, making the good doctor an offer he doesn’t want to refuse. It might have taken the men a year to get to their first date, but they seem intent on making up for lost time.
Originally published in the Animal Attraction anthology.
REVIEW:
Micah and Byron have been dancing around each other for nearly a year. Every time they find themselves together, the two find themselves trading looks and flirting but neither man has felt comfortable making a move. Micah’s had enough of waiting, however, and he’s determined to try and get the doctor in his bed…
For such a short story, I thought this was well done; it was mostly just “plot, what plot?” but it was still hot and made for an enjoyable interlude. The two main characters have obviously known each other for quite a while and you do get a little information about how they met but most of the story revolves around Micah and Byron finally getting together. Byron was just oblivious to the signals Micah had been sending but when confronted with the mutual attraction, had no trouble getting with the program. I liked that even though sex was kind of the focus, there was still more going on besides and you get to see the main characters do something other than get naked. The interactions seemed genuine and I could honestly see them together outside of the snippet you see here. I enjoyed it and will read it again in the future; this was just a perfect little bit of sexy without being too overwhelming.
