LENGTH: 10,000 Words

BLURB:
The Banner Brothers are trouble—aggravating, infuriating, distracting trouble. Rich has his hands full taking care of his own sheep, he doesn’t need the added frustration of the Banner Brothers and the way their llamas can’t stay on their side of the fence. Every time Rich starts to get a leg up, something else goes wrong, and it’s always the Banners who are there to bear witness. The only thing worse than them always being around would be if they ever catch on to the fact he doesn’t really want them to go.
REVIEW:
Rich’s somewhat boring, orderly life has been flipped right around ever since the Banner Brothers became his new neighbors. Rich was quite content just working his farm and helping his sister to raise her two daughters, but the arrival of Hyland and Holt and their species-confused, fence hopping llama stirs up more than irritation, although Rich’s fierce scowls suggest otherwise. Despite every effort not to be too friendly, Rich continues to find himself in the presence of the brothers and annoying also finds himself attracted to them. To both of them. Together. So their announcement that they intend to court him together should be the answer to Rich getting everything he wants.
I liked this short story, but I think a lot of that came from the fact that it was a ménage and two of the three men were brothers. What can I say, I’m a slave to a bit of brocest (in fiction!) and I think I’m always willing to be more forgiving with any author who is willing to feed my addiction. While I liked all of the characters, none of them were overly developed or explored. There is a hint or two that Holt and Hyland are already in a relationship before meeting Rich, but that’s never clearly stated nor is there any backstory there. If two brothers are in a relationship, then you want to know the when, how and why. And why did they feel the need to add Rich? Getting some of the story from the brothers’ point of view may have cleared up some of the questions that I felt left the story incomplete.
Like I said, I did like this, I just really felt that there needed to be more. The plot was good, but needed to slow down a pace and more time needed to be taken to discover the characters. Should the author ever decide to expand this or even write a sequel, I’d be very interested in finding out how this newly formed and definitely unconventional relationship unfolds.
