REVIEW:
I don’t tend to read fairy tale type stories, preferring books with a more realistic feel, so I had no clue what I was getting myself into when I put up my hand to review this story.
Right from the get-go I found myself intrigued by not only the mysterious Madame Eve but the venue of the ‘date’! Chris is handed a letter to read, which gives her a glimpse into the horrors Alexandria had to endure as a gay lesbian in the military. Believe you me it’s not easy to read and my heart broke for Alex, before I even met the illustrious character.
Then when Chris is caught placing a kiss on her “sleeping beauty’s” lips and Alexandria’s mother walks in, another entire can of worms is opened.
After the initial bumps in the road, the story took off in another direction, and with our heroine Alexandria being rich, no expenses were spared as she took Chris on the date of her life. Swept away in a helicopter, driven to a flash hotel, complete with spa pool, and naked fun.
I liked that Chris was not painted as the glamor gal, which tend to be portrayed in books with erotic content. Her vulnerabilities and insecurities about looking like a pale whale (her words) gave her character that special touch of realness!
My Verdict – This book is ooy-gooey good. I liken it to a delicious donut, not much substance, gone in a few bites, but it left me feeling sated and smiling.
I highly recommend this story to those who enjoy a feel good lesbian romance. A few parts take a little bit of suspension of belief, so just don’t overthink it.
