Hey, guys! It’s great to be back after a whirlwind 2015! 2016 promises to be an equally exciting year!
As most of you know, I have a unique writing background in a number of ways, not the least of which is that I was raised by a prolific author. I have also written in multiple mainstream venues for years, and spent way too much time on movie sets as a kid watching films come to life for the silver screen. Though I write for Harmony Ink Press and have spent the past four years concentrating on young adult works, I write primarily for adults—surprise!
This year starts off with the release of Sleight of Heart, a sweet fantasy romance novella coming soon from CoolDudes Publishing! You’ll find Sleight of Heart to be different from my usual writing style. As authors, we must exercise our mental spheres and stretch our ink beyond preferred boundaries lest our writing style become stale. When I sat down to pen Sleight of Heart, I set out to accomplish two things. First, to write in a style I’m unaccustomed to; and second, to write an anachronistic piece. Sleight of Heart is written closer to the graceful tones of British prose—something that is most definitely not my usual style. I’m all about pound that story out and forget anything close to purple stuff! It’s also written around primordial phantasy and ancient superstition—all set against a backdrop of present day reality. The penultimate question? How would we humans treat preternatural creatures in present-day society? I hope you enjoy reading Sleight of Heart as much as I enjoyed writing it.
On March 1st, I’m honored and privileged to announce that Omorphi will be released in French by Dreamspinner Press, and will debut at Salon du Livre in Paris on March 17th as Harmony Ink Press’s first translation of a young adult work. A very special thank you to Elizabeth and Anne for making one of my dreams come true. And to Bénédicte Girault for your tireless work and putting your heart into the incredible translation.
Tharros, book two in the Hope series, and one of two sequels to Omorphi, will release in April, 2016. Eplida, book three in the series, will release in September, 2016. Stay tuned for TWO cover reveals in February: Omorphi in French and Tharros!
Later this year, I also hope to bring you Mud Angels, Grotesque, and some serious steampunkery!
Oh, and the secret? Sleight of Heart is a vignette of a much larger universe full of Celtic gods, shifters, fae, dragons and world building you can’t imagine! Coming to you from CoolDudes Publishing! See you back here on Wednesday, February 17th! Thanks for reading!
Cody Kennedy aka Aisling Mancy
Cody is an author who lives, most of the time, on the West Coast of the United States. Cody, writes adult fantasy, science fiction, adult romance, and fiction for gay young adults as C. Kennedy.
Raised on the mean streets and back lots of Hollywood by a Yoda-look-alike grandfather, Cody doesn’t conform, doesn’t fit in, is epic awkward, and lives to perfect a deep-seated oppositional defiance disorder. In a constant state of fascination with the trivial, Cody contemplates such weighty questions as If time and space are curved, then where do all the straight people come from? When not writing, Cody can be found taming waves on western shores, pondering the nutritional value of sunsets, appreciating the much-maligned dandelion, unhooking guide ropes from stanchions, and marveling at all things ordinary.
