Kelly Harding has become good friends with Seiran Rou, originally the only male witch to actually train in magic. Now after a couple trying months and several crazy plots to kill Seiran, Kelly suggests a ski vacation to help them all relax—even if Kelly does have to work to keep his taboo crush on Seiran’s brother, Jamie, under wraps. But their getaway becomes a fight for survival when a magic fueled blizzard strands them in the middle of nowhere…with a killer.
When visions of a tower and a dying man fueling a deadly spell begin to fill Kelly’s head, he realizes he has to try to save his new family. Jamie isn’t about to let him go alone—no matter how against a relationship with his little brother’s best friend he might be. But their goals are the same: Protect Seiran, stop the spell, and make it home in one piece. It will take a brush with death to make them understand how deep their feelings go, and none of them will make it out unchanged.
REVIEW:
I would say of the 3 books in the series this was my least favorite which saddens me to know end. Jaime has always held a special place in my heart. He has always been one of my most favorite characters in this world that Lissa Kasey has created. But in this story I never got a good grasp on his personality aside from how him just being Sei’s big brother. I also never really felt a real connection between Kelly and Jamie even though it was there that huge spark was missing, in my opinion.
This story starts very shortly after book 2 so all characters are still not 100% mentally or physically. They all decide they need some time away so they set out on a camping trip in the snowy mountains. What ensues is a lot of push and pull, lack of communication, and several other frustrating moments all while battling this ominous snow storm that hints at dark magic.
I do love this world. I absolutely will read the next book in the series because I am invested greatly in the characters. This book unfortunately just fell short for me and left me feeling a bit let down just because I really had such high hopes for Kelly and Jamie.
Unfortunately I can’t recommend this book but I can whole heartedly recommend the first 2 stories. I will also read the rest of the series because I do really love this author!!
