REVIEW:
So, this book was so different than what I thought it’d be. That’s neither good or bad, just different.
I was intrigued thinking that this book had to do with shifters and it does, but the way in which this story plays out…I was expecting something wholly different that what the story is about.
Elizabeth Crews has been in a long-term relationship with Dusty and is carrying their child. Dusty’s brother was the donor for them and that keeps it all in the family. I liked that Dusty’s family is close…more close than you can imagine and it was actually a really sweet and wonderful thing to behold.
The book starts out with action and you are pulled into this heart-breaking scenario and that really made my heart hurt. Elizabeth is thrown into a world that she knows nothing about and isn’t being told…this is just a recipe for disaster. Elizabeth is going through so many things, moving to a new place, being with Dusty’s family and a new job…just so much new and then…she meets another woman.
Isha is the other woman….but not the way you’d think. Isha is apart of this Clan of shape-shifting people and is a single mother. She was a guardian
The secondary characters in this book really brought out this story. I loved Greer, Dusty’s mom. She is such a strong woman who is without a doubt…ALPHA. Yet, even being alpha…she is this woman whose heart is just so damn big. Bardo…Dusty’s father…I truly fell in love with this man. Bardo is this really sweet, kind, and gentle man who is just about the most perfect man EVER!!!
The is so much going on in this story and the thing that strikes me the most is the mysticism that the author included in the story. I was taken away with all of the spirituality and mysticism that was woven throughout the story. It made it more than I ever thought it could be.
I don’t necessary put this as a romance, more as a journey. There is action, kidnapping, mysticism, family and faith. This book had it all and continued to make you think and feel for the characters. I enjoyed the idea of family…those not of birth, but of faith and love.
