When freelance florist Dylan White gets a call that a good friend has died and left him a flower shop, Dylan isn’t sure he wants the commitment. Still, he travels to Florida to speak with the law firm, where he meets defense attorney Sean Mellick in the corridor. Sean makes a point of “running into” Dylan again, and Dylan eventually agrees to a date.
While romance blooms between the two men, their careers aren’t going as smoothly. Dylan faces employee resistance and sabotage, then inexplicable expenses leave him on the verge of bankruptcy. An offer to sell that sounds too good to be true makes him suspicious and he asks Sean for help. Though they’ve had very little time together, Dylan and Sean need each other to work through the issues and plant the seeds for the future they both want.
REVIEW:
This is the next book in the Workplace Encounters series to be released by Dreamspinner Press. I have been a fan of this series and eagerly await each of the books being released. Each of these books can be a stand-alone, as totally new characters are in each book. These books are never disappointing for me, providing just the right mix of love, intrigue, and my always sought after…HEA.
This time we embark on the tale of Dylan White, a free spirit adventurer and floral designer, who is suddenly thrust into the world of total responsibility when his best friend is unexpectedly killed in a tragic automobile accident. Dylan is left his friend’s total estate, including a popular and profitable floral shop in a large mall in Jacksonville, Florida. While having to deal with everything in Mike Benton’s estate he comes in contact with an attorney, Sean Mellick, in the same office handling the estate.
The Florist tells of how Dylan and Sean’s relationship “blooms” and grows as the two men get to know each other. Sean discovers that Dylan likes a bit of “kink” and helps him explore it. When Dylan starts to get in real trouble with his new business he turns to his new boyfriend, Sean, for help and advice. This really is a turning point for the men and helps to build the trust needed to advance their relationship to the next level. It also helped both men to realize which direction they desire their respective careers to follow.
I enjoyed getting to know both Dylan and Sean and to follow their story. I always enjoy that each story has some sort of “issue” to be resolved but it doesn’t always follow the same route. Whether it is family troubles, business rivals, jealous fans or ex’s, Serena Yates always keeps you intrigued as to what situation might arise and how the appropriate solution can be used. I was not disappointed it this newest addition to the series and look forward to more.
