REVIEW:
This is what I refer to as my ‘forgotten’ Blaecleah Brother book. I used to be pretty good about keeping up with the series but this last book somehow slipped between the cracks for me.
This isn’t so much about the brothers this time. They’ve all found the love of their lives and are pretty happy. This is more about their outside/extend family.
Each chapter in this book sort of gives us a peek into each of the brother’s lives to see what they’ve accomplished by way of their respective relationships and to see how their significant other has thrived. I particularly like the Irish blessings at the beginning of each chapter. I thought that it really added a nice touch.
Speaking of Irish, I also appreciate how the author treated the character’s Irish heritage. I liked how she wrote their dialogue like she would any other and didn’t try and write the dialogue in an Irish brogue which would’ve made it unreadable. It was just understood that they were Irish and would therefore speak with that dialect.
Just when you think that the story was just going to be all smiles and Christmas cheer and family happiness, people from their past enters their lives. New relationships are formed and old ones are repaired.
I am glad that I thought to check back with the brothers as Kapheri’s character was mentioned in the spinoff from this series (Cade Creek) and I had no idea who he was, where he came from or how he got into Cade Creek.
This was a nice little read; just perfect for the holidays. I also noticed that the editing (which has been somewhat of a problem with this publisher’s authors in the past) has greatly improved. There were virtually no errors to be found in this book.
The violence was at a minimum in this particular book. There was conflict of course but with little to no violence or abuse. It was pretty much a feel good holiday story about love, forgiveness, confronting and overcoming your past.
