TITLE: Nice And Snow
SERIES: With A Twist
AUTHOR: Clare London
PUBLISHER: Jocular Press
LENGTH: 50 pages
BLURB:
Nuri’s expecting a quiet Christmas, driving his cab, doing some studying, enjoying good food and drink – and devoting some serious loving to boyfriend Eduardo. Occasionally he misses his homeland of Turkey, but he’s content to share the London celebrations with Eddy.
But what with Eddy’s distress over his new role at the local comedy club, interference in their love life from Nuri’s irrepressible brothers, a disturbing number of costumed Santas on the street, the dangerous slush on roads, and then the portly, bearded man dressed in red, in need of an urgent cab ride… It doesn’t look like things will be that quiet after all.
REVIEW:
This Christmas short story is absolutely delightful. I wish I had discovered it before Christmas! It is book six in the series, and although I have not read any of the other books, this did not pose any issues. The story is written in a straightforward, engaging way that I had no trouble following along and it has intrigued me enough to add the rest of the series to by TBR list. I was particularly taken with Eddy’s brothers, both of them seem to be interesting characters who I would like to get to know better.
The main characters work very well together as a couple. Their conversations were fun to read. Nuri is absolutely adorable. It is obvious that he is very much in love with Eddy and is looking forward to a quiet Christmas together. I loved the way he teases Eddy and sometimes mangles his English accidentally on purpose. Eddy is funny and sweet and also obviously in love (have I mentioned that I have to go find their first book?) with Nuri too. I liked his sense of humour. Eddy has one problem this Christmas though, Santa is everywhere! And Eddy sort of has a Santa phobia. And he has been asked to play Santa at a children’s Christmas party. What is a guy to do? A chance encounter with the big guy himself (he was a hoot) and the return of the Christmas spirit make for a thoroughly enjoyable book. I would recommend it any time of year as a feel good, spirit lifting book.
