TITLE: A Certain Kind of Holiday
SERIES: Dreamspinner Advent Calendar 2015 — Sleigh Ride
AUTHOR: Andi Van
PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press
LENGTH: 29 pages
BLURB:
When Elliot Knapp took a business trip over the holidays last year, he didn’t expect to run into the professor his first serious boyfriend cheated on him with. The man was handsome, certainly, but Elliot has better things to do than deal with drama from a decade ago.
Luckily for him, Howard Wise wasn’t going to let him get away without an explanation. A year after meeting again, the couple is making their first holiday trip to celebrate Christmas. Everything is fantastic, but Howard is obviously keeping secrets, and Elliot can’t help but wonder what his silver fox has up his sleeve.
REVIEW:
One of my most favorite parts of this “job/new career” is getting to discover and read new-to-me authors. An even better perk is discovering an author whom I really enjoy.
This is the case with Andi Van. I really enjoyed this quick little tale of true love. Would I have enjoyed it even more if it had been a full length novel? Sure I would have. I quickly realized that these were characters I would have liked to have gotten to explore and know better. From what I did get to know, I really liked.
I am also hoping for another story, perhaps a longer novella, of their next trip, that they were embarking on at the end of the story. I believe that the author has landed on something here and that readers will want to know more of what happens with Elliot and Howard.
When I read the blurb, I have to admit, I thought that there was some big, dark secret. I had to reread that blurb after I finished the story and now I realize that I misunderstood the “keeping secrets” part. I am so use to there being an underlying mystery in longer novels and thought I had missed something. This is a nice, easy read that is fun and included my much needed HEA. A fun, quick read that will make you smile. I only hope that the author will write a follow up book!
