Happy New Year’s to one and all!
Wow, what a year it’s been, huh? Lots of things happened in this big, big world of ours. Big? Maybe not so much. Thanks to this thing called the internet, I now have friends from all over the world!
Funny, I never thought I would have friends in France, UK, Holland, Germany or Australia. But guess what? There are people who I speak to on a regular basis from those countries and more. Hard to believe how close you can become to people on a computer. So close in fact, that you start to consider them family. I’ve been very fortunate to have been able to meet so many of them in person. Before I started writing, I doubt any of this would have been possible.
We talk, we laugh, we cry. We share recipes, traditions and cultures. We look out for each other, from across oceans. We visit one another, meet at book conferences, hug, kiss, drink and spend time together like we’d known each other all our lives. True friendships have been forged, all because of this little box. This small box on my desk shrunk the world and what a marvelous thing it is.
When I went to Paris last year, it was an amazing experience. Yes, there were the sites to see, the food to sample, the ancient streets to explore, but it was the people who made it so special for me.
It was the same when I went to Australia this year. Never in my wildest imagination did I think I would ever visit the Land Down Under, but I did and again… it was the wonderful people that I was able to meet in person that made it such a spectacular, life changing event.
So I would like to thank those who have made this all possible. The people who keep this genre going. The authors, the bloggers and reviewers, but especially the readers who support all of us. It was an amazing year for me.
I wish you all as much joy and peace as your hearts can hold. Here’s to another wonderful year on this little planet of ours that keeps on spinning.
Happy New Year’s.
