Eli may only be thirty, but he has had enough of pretend submissives. When he spies Jarod in a BDSM club, everything about the man screams submission. Jarod spent twenty-four years with his Master before Fate took him. Four years on, Jarod is still lost, so when a young Dom takes charge, Jarod rolls with it and finds himself serving again. But he keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop. Because there’s going to come a point when Eli realizes he’s a laughing stock in the club. Who would want to be seen with a fifty-year-old sub?
After several missteps, Eli realizes that in order to find happiness, they will need friends who will understand. At a friend’s insistence, he visits Collars & Cuffs, where they are met with open arms. As they settle in to their new life, Eli begins to see things differently and he dares to think he can have it all. Until a phone call threatens to take it all away….
REVIEW:
Book 7 in a series I have been following from the start, a series that holds some of my favorite characters in the books I have read. Knowing the series is coming to an end it is bittersweet and I’m seeing that coming nearer but this arc will be one to remember. One of the best things for me is the fact that in the whole series you keep track of the characters from the previous books. This story brings us back to some great settings with Alex, Peter, and the other subs and doms and it made me so thoroughly enjoy this series.
The story is about Jarod and Eli and the authors bring us a really different view on how to build a relationship, which I personally liked because it makes the book read differently and stand out on its own. They brought Dorian’s story in the book before this and it was required I think as people had been anxiously waiting for that one. For me, however this story was nothing less than that and perhaps it was even more, this slow and different building of the relationship between Eli and Jarod . The grief they both have go through in sharing Jarod’s back story, the learning Eli has to do as a relatively new dom just wanting someone to “serve” him and the experiences they both share in learning to trust and settling in are portrayed really intensely and highly detailed, bringing the reader to their house and sharing their experiences.
By far the best part of the book, for me, is the love and trust and bonding of the subs. I am not going to go into detail as that would spoil it, but lets leave it at the subs plan something in love and trust together and Jarod help them and finds by doing that his own “family” in the process. As a strong believer of the fact that family isn’t just about blood, this part and everything around was a definite highlight and rates the book just that bit higher. It also brings us Peter & Alex and what is not to love about that, and then I am leaving out a Scott who’s so vulnerable that it touched my soul.
When an emergency almost causes everything to go to hell, Jarod needs to realize that perhaps what he is willing to sacrifice is not only causing him heartache but also people around him. And then it is time for Eli to stand up and set it all straight also in the weeks after. Where you could have some criticism on the way Eli behaves in the beginning of the book, the way he handles things with Jarod sure sets the record straight in the end.
The family these men have built and that both authors have brought to life is something amazing, because there is no doubt that if Miss Wells & Mr Williams pick up their pen together something special is being created. It gives us something to definitely look forward to in seeing it all coming together, in the what I can only imagine be one of the most waited for releases of 2016.

this was an excellent installment to the series. I agree it is bittersweet that this series is ending.
