LENGTH: 189 pages
BLURB:
Adrian Gottlieb is winning at life. He’s a successful video game designer with everything a man could ask for, including a warm comfy ride to Denver and a date for his sister’s wedding. But he finds himself in need of a total reboot when he’s left stranded at a snowy campground in Utah. Holiday plans? Epic fail.
That is until Noah Walters offers him shelter for the night and a reluctant cross-country ride. Nothing about the ultraconservative geoarchaeologist should attract Adrian, but once he discovers Noah’s hidden love for video games, the two connect on a new level. Soon, a quiet but undeniable chemistry sparks.
Something doesn’t add up, though. As the miles accumulate and time runs out, Noah must face the most difficult choice of his life. Meanwhile, Adrian must decide whether he’s ready to level up. Is their relationship status worth fighting for, or has this game ended before it’s even begun?
REVIEW:
Holy Damn…this was too cute and too damn enjoyable for its own good. I knew from the blurb that there something we needed to learn, some mystery. We learn what it is early on. The way this author wove the story was so perfect. Usually I find when situations like this arise, and characters have hang ups like this I find that I don’t understand which just irritates me. It’s not ok, which I understand but that’s usually the way it goes. But with this it was almost like I felt Noah’s pain and his want and desire for more. It was really told perfectly in that sense.
Noah and Adrian meet at an interesting juncture of their lives. Noah because he happens to be on a break from his usually busy day job as a college professor. And Adrian because he was just stranded in the middle of nowhere by a love interest he didn’t really know. After deliberation and confusion they both agree to Noah taking him home to his original destination.
A lot of things unfold in what was supposed to be a quick few hour trip. Both Noah and Adrian uncover lots of things about themselves and find a lot of things out about each other. There’s a loveable pairing of pet with their human that being an animal lover, really appealed to me.
I love getting these new series and having them be so wonderful that the anticipation for subsequent books is almost debilitating. The wait always leaves me loving and hating it.
I am no doubt an Annabeth Albert fan!!! This author can write such rich characters with amazingly in depth plots.
This is a must read….recommend!!!
