BLURB:
For paramedic Adam Carson, his world is lights and sirens and saving lives. Pressures at work keep him firmly in the closet, and life is too busy to contend with the complications that come with dating and relationships. When a familiar face from his past turns up where he least expects it, Adam starts to question whether or not there is room in his life for those complications.
The last person forensic pathologist Sam McKenna expects to see at pub night is Adam, the guy who made his life hell in high school. The attraction is instant, but Adam isn’t gay and Sam has no interest in pursuing him. Still, the leftover animosity from their teenage years isn’t enough to extinguish the lust growing between them. After both are called to the scene of a horrific murder, Adam admits he’s not as straight as he led Sam to believe and they seek comfort and distraction in each other’s arms. One night becomes many as the murder investigation intensifies, but when Adam is faced with losing Sam, he is forced to make a choice: to break his silence, or to give up everything for the job he loves.
REVIEW:
Well, it’s official!!! I’m a Cate Ashwood fan…there I said it. It’s done…does anyone have stone because I will carve that shit!! This book was so good….SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!! There’s so much good here I can’t even talk about it. The characters, the side characters, the plot…all SOOOO GOOD!!!!
Sam and Adam knew each other in High School. Both battling their own demons they lost track of each other when they started college. No big deal really since they weren’t friends to begin with and if you’re asking Sam, they were enemies. Flash forward a few years they both work in similar fields and run in to each other…and the sparks fly.
Unfortunately….Adam is tucked nice and tight in the closet and Sam’s not sure he wants anything other than a tumble in the sheets.
The way this whole thing between the two MC’s evolved I loved. I liked how the author made the story more about these characters than about the murder mystery. It was so different than other stories that I’ve read with similar plots.
There’s an underlining murder/mystery that pulls the 2nd story into relevance. There’s also lots going on which I don’t want to give away.
Overall, you will really enjoy this story and want to know more. The writing is spectacular and you will totally enjoy how everything turns out…while wanting more. Recommend!

I just finished this last night and loved it too! I thought she did such a good job of balancing the romance and the mystery aspects of the story, which is really hard to do. Plus there were just so many great characters I want to know more about. I’m so glad this is a series but I want to read the next book NOW! Do you know how long we have to wait for the next book??
Hi Bugetta and thanks for the comment. When I look on her author site it looks as though there are a few books ahead of this one. Like you I want to know more too. I’m glad you liked this one as well ; )
Argh! Waiting sucks! 🙂 At least she has a decent back list to keep me busy until it comes out. 🙂
