Until the man who broke his heart comes back into town. Caden Flynn has been gone for a long time. Five years fighting for his country has taken its toll and changed him in some fundamental ways. One thing he wants more than anything is to right the wrongs he’s caused Robyn. Robyn proves to have a very stubborn heart.
REVIEW:
Robyn Heath had fallen in love with Caden Flynn when they were in high-school and he honestly thought they would spend the rest of their lives together, right up to moment Caden left for basic training when he was nineteen. That was the day Caden ripped his heart out.
Caden was raised by his brothers Brad and Luis, their mother had died not long after he was born and their father was an abusive alcoholic who used to rape and beat Brad when they were younger. When he attempted to rape Luis as well as beating him so bad he still has the scars, that was when Brad beat their father to within an inch of his life and grabbed the boys and left. Thankfully Caden remembers none of that as he was far too young. After high-school Caden knew he couldn’t ask his brothers to pay for college so he joined the military. The day Caden received his orders to go overseas was the day he cut off all contact with Robyn because he didn’t want him hurt should he be killed in war but he never explained to anyone why he did it.
Robyn never got over Caden, he tried so hard to hate him as he went to college to his nursing degree and he thought he had succeeded until he was at his little brother’s birthday party and in walked Caden! Luckily Robyn had moved to another town with Owen and Neil (from a previous book). After a few shocking revelations, Caden realises just how much damage he did to Robyn when all he was actually trying to do was save him from being hurt. It takes months of grovelling for Robyn to even listen to what Caden has to say and that is when he finally understands that it wasn’t anything he did to make Caden turn away from him. After this conversation they begin to heal and come to the realisation that they are still in love with each other and want to make a go of a life together.
There is nothing about this book and series that I wouldn’t recommend to all and sundry! I’m always on tenterhooks waiting for the next book! Each instalment just gets better.
