REVIEW:
This story starts with the heroine taking the plunge to get a tattoo. For some strange reason she can’t explain it feels like the shop is calling to her. Even though it is after hours Genevieve insists Fae is ‘the one’ who needs to tattoo her. Fae eventually agrees to do so, but on her terms, this is where the story takes a turn into the paranormal, and Gen discovers vampires do exist. She wakes up the next morning with not only a tattoo but puncture wounds and satisfied from numerous orgasms. I must say I was a little disappointed the sex was off page. For me, if orgasms are mentioned I want to be shown them not told about them, otherwise I feel the story blurs the lines between being marketed as mainstream or erotica, in my humble (smut loving) opinion.
After her night with Fae, Gen starts sensing other worldly entities and ends up going to a carnival with a close friend. It was often referred to as a Cirque, a word I hadn’t encountered before so I found myself educated while reading. It was an interesting day out, and through a series of events Gen finds herself wondering around on her own. Stumbling across a fortune teller she enters the big tent… and life is never the same again. To find out her fate you’ll need to read this little gem of a story.
Although this is book 2 in a series, I feel it can be read as a standalone. Fae from book one is mentioned but her part is short and fast.
In summary this was a fun story to read – featuring a dark carnival, shape shifters and all manner of creatures that go bump in the night.
