SERIES: 2015 Advent Calendar – Sleighride

AUTHOR: Cassie Decker

PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press

LENGTH: 28 pages

BLURB:

Fate has a way of bringing people together, like it did when Tucker Wright and Callum Richards met unexpectedly in an airport coffee shop and formed a deep connection in the short time they had to spend together. But fate can also be cruel. When Tucker loses Cal’s phone number in his hurry to catch his plane, he has no way of reaching Cal. Then a dead car battery and a snowy night force their paths to cross again, will Cal believe Tucker and ring in the New Year with a little help from kismet?

REVIEW:

We are first introduced to Tucker and Callum at the airport, where they make (an unlikely) connection over coffee, but because it is the Denver airport, I was willing to imagine the coffee shop being very busy and Callum having few places to sit. The whole destroy the cell phone, thus losing all of the data on it was more realistic, and the interaction at the gate with the airline representative was strangely familiar to me from some of my travels.

That the cowboy turned mechanic Callum, and web designer Tucker happen to run into each other in the middle of nowhere Colorado was another unlikely coincidence, but given the name of the story, I would expect no less. I will say that sure, it was a missed opportunity, reunited by strange circumstance, but Cal’s reaction seemed a bit over the top once the guys met again and of course we get our holiday HEA.

BTW, Callum is a cowboy with black hair and blue eyes – OMG, could Decker have picked a hotter combination? Overall, I did enjoy the story, regardless of the far-fetched coincidences.
