A warm welcome to author Zathyn Priest joining us today to share some toughts on his latest release “Inside His Reflection” and the new year.
Welcome Zathyn 🙂
New Year Reflection – Zathyn Priest
As this blog tour for my latest release, Inside His Refection, draws to an end, I find myself struggling to think of anything more to say. I’m notoriously useless at self-promotion, and not much better at writing blog posts. This is why my own personal blog, Broken Pencil, is neglected for weeks on end. What I will say is that I’ve been overwhelmed by the response Inside His Reflection has received, and extremely grateful for the feedback from reviewers and readers. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.
A latest release isn’t a latest release for long. Pretty soon the inevitable inquiries start about whether there will be a sequel, or what an author is currently working on for their next book. Another thing about me is, I’m a notoriously slow writer. I’m not a prolific author by any stretch of the imagination. However, 2016 is shaping up to be a busy year for me. In fact, it’s been non-stop since returning from GRL in October.
Inside His Reflection is a novel I’m proud of, and I don’t often say that about my own work. However, I put everything I had into it. It’s one of those stories where I could have compromised by lightening it up. I could have made it a ‘safer’ read. I could have thrown in a couple of sex scenes for… well, for ‘just because’. I didn’t, and I’m glad I didn’t. It never would have been the story it is if I’d compromised it in such a way. As for a sequel? I highly doubt it. It is what is, and it’s said what it had to say. On the other hand, I always said I’d never write a sequel to The Curtis Reincarnation or Liquid Glass, too. Basically, the lesson here is, never listen to me because who knows what I’ll do?
What is on the cards for 2016? I’m currently preparing my back-list for re-release with Wilde City Press. This is super exciting for me. Another thing I’m useless at is self-publishing, so I’m thrilled they’ve found a new home. Those books are, The Slayer’s Apprentice, Liquid Glass, Left of Centre, and The Statue. Wilde City Press will also publish my new one, HAI-21, which has me trying my hand at a sci-fi (ish) novella. Or novel. At this stage, I’m not sure if it will hit novel length. After HAI-21, there is a very good chance HAI-22 will follow, as I already have a plot in mind for a sequel.
Speaking of sequels, they’re something I’ve shied away from completely. I think I’ve been promising The Curtis Reincarnation sequel for about a zillion years now. I want to work on it in 2016. I’ll also be working on graphic versions of Liquid Glass, Left of Centre, and HAI-21. I also plan to revamp Scarlet Tie Designs, and it expand it further than just offering pre-made cover art. And, in between, I’ll be taking more dance classes throughout the week. At the moment, I take classical ballet classes. Next year, I want to add contemporary and, hopefully, back to burlesque classes. Somewhere, amid all this, I’ll find time to sleep.
I’m not sure they’re new year resolutions in the truest sense. A good thing, seeing as resolutions are broken too easily! Anyway, that’s the 2016 plan. I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas has a lovely day, and those who don’t (like me) have a lovely day doing whatever makes you happy. All the best for the new year. Stay safe. PLEASE don’t drink and drive.

Zathyn Priest is an award winning Australian MM fiction author and cover artist. His published novels include Inside His Reflection, Amara: The Rebirth, The Curtis Reincarnation, The Slayer’s Apprentice, and Liquid Glass. He has also written short fiction, The Statue, Left of Centre, and One of Those Days. Zathyn’s new graphic novella, HAI-21, will be available early 2016.
Zathyn discovered digital art five years ago when he wanted to create 3D models of his own fictional characters. The hobby turned into another passion, and then into pre-made cover art business, Scarlet Tie Designs. He now creates original artwork book covers, website artworks, and poster artworks.
Sitting in an office all day in front of a computer does not match Zathyn’s restless soul. Therefore, he also attends classical ballet and jazz burlesque dance classes, with the ambition to turn boylesque/burlesque into a part-time career.
