BLURB:
Jamie Goh’s life took a downturn when he lost his job, and a bad relationship left him disillusioned and afraid to trust again. But his friends and family want to see him happy, even if he’s turned off by the idea of dating. Following a Christmas disaster that proves the UK really can’t handle snow, Jamie discovers not everyone is out to hurt him—and loyalty means something to some people—when a sweet guy goes above and beyond for him.
REVIEW:
At Christmas I really just want to read some sweet fluff. This story fits that bill.
Jamie Goh, the main character, is rebounding from a bad and emotionally abusive relationship. His roommate and other friends set him up for a blind date. Jamie doesn’t do dates. He’s just content with the life he has now, working at his parent’s restaurant. But deep inside he yearns for a loving relationship. After the night out, Nick, his blind date, and Jamie kiss at the beach in a lovely and romantic scene. Although both aren’t ready for a relationship they do want to explore, where this friendship might go. And so the kiss leads to a night of tentative love-making. The next morning Jamie leaves to pick up his Chinese granny and his aunt at the airport, but is heavily delayed due to the snowstorm hitting the Southwest of the UK. They even get stranded at the airport, because driving isn’t safe in these conditions.
But Nick comes to rescue them in his 4×4 jeep. He takes Jamie and both women to Jamie’s parents so they can celebrate Christmas. And of course Nick is invited to stay for breakfast and Christmas dinner with his new found love.
I loved the way the story was built around two well-rounded main characters, who have more in common than they know. Their backstory was fluently woven into the story, so it all felt complete. When reading the sensual sex-scene half way into the book, I was a little afraid that was where it ended, but thankfully the story developed from there into a classic knight in shining armor, which left me feeling all warm inside.
