Simon Tyler knows his job as a gay romance author makes his lack of faith in love more than a little ironic, but he’s tired of being used for his wallet. When a night out turns into a matchmaking scheme orchestrated by his best friends, Simon’s not thrilled, but since he’s not the target and he’s sworn off happily-ever-after anyway, he goes along with it… until he meets Adrian, the object of their efforts, and finds perhaps he hasn’t given up on love after all.
Professor Adrian Keys has tried to date Hearing men before, but being Deaf himself, he’s never had any success at making a connection. After his friends con him into going out and Adrian realizes it’s all an elaborate plan to set him up, he braces for yet another failure, only to discover there is a spark—except it’s not with the man his friends had in mind, but with Simon Tyler instead.
Not all their friends have found a way past their romantic failures, but Simon and Adrian might be on the path to happily-ever-after.
REVIEW:
Wow, I was really excited when I say that the next book in the Desires Entwined Series was coming out and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I was lucky enough to be able to review this book and let me say…I’m really glad that I did.
This story is Simon & Adrian’s story. We’ve met them both in the previous books. We met Adrian in Desires’ Guardian when he went on a date with Chase. We also met Simon in that book as well. Adrian was such a really great character. He wasn’t in the story for long, however, he did make a lasting impression, not only on Chase, but on the reader as well. Simon as well left an impression. Here is this guy who is a romance writer and yet, he has the worst luck when it comes to relationships, yet Simon is AMAZING when it comes to his friends.
Adrian has been Deaf all his life and that has NEVER slowed him down!! Adrian lives such a wonderfully full life with great friends and a Father who loves him just the way he is. His Mother…well, we never got to meet her on screen, but from what we heard…she’s one of those people who say that he needs to “act normal”. Sigh. Adrian is this really wonderful guy who is intelligent, kind, loving and just an all-around great guy. I’ve liked him since the moment I read about him in Desires Entwined. Just an Awesome Character and I had hoped to read more about him in a future book.
Simon has these wonderful friends/family who absolutely Love him!! Simon comes from money and in the past, he’s had boyfriends who have used him for money. Simon also has the family from Hell. Parents and sister who are so damn anti-gay, it’s not even funny. They are big into anti-gay policy and trying to make Simon into who they would like him to be and not even accepting who he is. Simon has been strong enough to stand his ground about being who he is and how he chooses to live his life. I like that Simon has these wonderful people in his life who love him just the way he is. Simon has a hard time believing that he’s worth being loved just as he is.
These two guys are so sweet together. This story didn’t have lots of angst, it was just a really sweet story that just made your heart warm. I really liked that this one didn’t have lots of whodunit and was just sweet and loving and about two men getting to know each other and falling in love.
Of course there were the characters that we met in the previous books and it was great to see again. I love seeing how their lives have continued and the love that we saw start is still going strong. I love seeing the continuation of some love stories.
Now there is some good sexy time loving on going on in this story, however, I will say that was never just sex for sex sake, it was to show the growing relationship between Simon and Adrian. It was sweet and tender and so very loving.
This book was a wonderful addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next book.
