After Sam returns home from two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, he moves to the Colorado mountains, where he hopes to begin a new life with his husband, Michael. Sam becomes the sheriff of sparsely populated Pine County, while Michael opens a curio shop for tourists where he sells his art.
When Sam and his deputy attempt to rescue a body from a dangerously fragile mountainside snowpack, Sam’s perception of the world, his husband, and the veracity of truths whispered in old winds, are called into question.

Review:
There’s a lot packed into this little story and not really much I can say about it without giving too much away.
Sam’s an interesting man. He’s seen way too much while serving in the military and starting over seems like just the thing. But just because it’s a small town doesn’t mean nothing ever happens so being the sheriff isn’t always as easy as you might think.
We don’t get to know Michael too well in this story, but we do know that there’s something special about him and that’s the important thing.
I liked the premise of this book and the characters were interesting enough to keep be reading all the way through. There was some anxiety to keep you guessing and some humor as well and I mostly enjoyed this story.
My biggest complaint is that there is too much story here for 38 pages and it was good enough to make me wish there’d been a whole lot more of it.
The writing is good, with smart dialogue and I think it was an excellent addition to this years Advent Calendar collection.

The blurb sounds good, but when reading it i too was a bit worried about the length and if there was enough time/pages to tell the story? So thank you for the review! I still like the idea of this one so i put it on my TBR list 🙂
Sometimes too much is better than too little…I may try it!
I always thought the stories that keep us wanting are better…this sounds like one I’ll enjoy.
thank you for the review, I liked the blurb
