SERIES: The Seattle Chronicles
AUTHOR: C.C. Dado
PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press
LENGTH: 61 Pages
BLURB:
Levi can remember the exact moment the projection of his life changed entirely, from homeless dropout to college graduate. It was the day he found Jamie Donovan standing on his front porch—the boy Levi had secretly drooled over from afar would become the best friend he secretly drooled over up close.
When Levi gets a full ride scholarship but Jamie doesn’t, Jamie becomes an exotic dancer to help pay his tuition. Watching Jamie perform is pure torture for Levi, and hiding how he really feels starts to take its toll. And when the hot new guy from his Econ class hits on him, Levi has to decide just how long he’s going to stay devoted to his straight best friend.
REVIEW:
This is the second book I’ve read from C.C. Dado, and I loved it even more than the last. The story began when Levi and Jamie leave their homes to start college. Though Jamie’s family is better off than Levi’s, Jamie doesn’t want to be a financial burden on his parents so he goes to work as an exotic dancer. Since Levi is in love with Jamie, he has a hard time dealing with the idea of Jamie dancing for other guys. Levi has saved himself for Jamie and has never even kissed another guy. Even though he believes Jamie is straight, he can’t imagine being with anyone else. When a student in one of their classes hits on Levi, Levi starts to get restless about his situation with Jamie.
This was such an exciting gay for you book. Though Levi hides his love for Jamie, he drops little hints from time to time that Jamie never gets. He has romantic thoughts but no vision for how he might achieve his dreams. I really loved how Jamie handles things when everything starts to crumble. Several times I had tears in my eyes, and the ending was particularly moving. My only issue with the book was that I initially confused Levi and Jamie’s characters. The first time the viewpoints changed I had to start reading from the beginning in order to straighten them out. However once I did, I was in love with the story. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sweet gay for you romance.
