Hey everyone, it’s Morticia here, and I have to ask – where the hell did the year go? There’s no way 2015 is almost over. Scary. *shivers* I feel like I should be doing a top 10 list or something. Isn’t that what people do right about now? Yeah, probably. But I’ve already done top book picks at a couple other sites and I can’t really think of anything else to list. Seriously. I can’t. Books are all I think about.
That’s probably an indicator right there that I should get out more. Not too much, because it would cut into my time spent reading and writing books. I was thinking I could go to more book conventions, because that would involve leaving the house. I still haven’t figured out how to fit more than seven people in my little house at one time, so having the convention here would be really difficult. Although, whoever wants to come over is welcome to share in whatever random writing snacks I have lying around as well as enjoying copious amounts of coffee. But overall, attending more conventions would equal more time spent outside of the house.
I could also do some research into local historical places that might be interesting to visit. It’s always been a hobby of mine to do that, and I think it’d be both enjoyable and a learning experience. There’s nothing like taking a trip to an ancient place and trying to imagine what it was like back then. I’m sure I’ve heard something about there being an actual brick and mortar bookstore around here. I’ve never seen it, and it might only be an urban legend, but if it really exists – that would be an exciting trip to take.
Other things I could do to help get me out in the real world would be to volunteer at the local library for one of their book drives. That’s community related and would also encourage me to put on pants, er… I mean, get out more. I know! Join a reading club. This would combine two very worthy activities – getting out of the house as well as putting on pants. Well, depending on what type of reading club we’re talking about, of course.
I know what you’re all thinking. For every one of you who spends hours upon hours of your precious time at home doing nothing but immersing yourself in books – you now have a reason to broaden your horizons beyond that and get out into the real world.
You’re welcome.
