BLURB:
Seiran Rou did the unthinkable to save his own life—he killed someone with magic. Now he’s haunted by the deed, and his internal troubles are ripping apart his newly strengthened relationship with Gabe. And the Dominion still wants him to toe the line and produce an heir.
After receiving threatening e-mails, phone calls, and vandalism that all seem to stem from another dead man from Sei’s tormented youth, Matthew Pierson, Sei thinks he’s going crazy and realizes he needs help. He turns to a Dominion-recommended psychiatrist.
But the past has already dug its claws in deep and someone is helping Sei’s old abuser lead him into a trap. Sei knows Gabe will come for him, and he’s ready to accept his love now. Only he doesn’t know if either of them will survive long enough to find a future together.
REVIEW:
When I finished book 1 I really wanted more. In book 1, I loved Gabe and Seiran’s dynamic and especially their independence and how unique they were. In this story, I felt we lost a bit of that special flare that was Seiran Rou. I get it. I understand why. That Brock mess was horrific I just always felt Sei was the type of character that would never let the bad guy win. And for a huge majority of this story, Sei let several monsters from his past win and dim that special spark and I hated it. Not the story!!!! Just that one aspect.
There’s tons of drama here. This author (WHO I LOVE) hinted in the blurb what was going to transpire and it was a bit obvious from early on. Needless to say I was totally enveloped into the story. From the beginning. There’s something that is so compelling about Sei and Gabe. I love them together. I love how Sei is surrounded in these strong people who love him wholeheartedly and protect him.
In Reclamation, Sei and Gabe are navigating their lives after the horrific attack from book 1. They trying to build their lives together while abiding by the rules handed down to them. Its obvious Sei is far from ok. Not only is he burdened by memories of Brock but also memories of Matthew(you have to read the book to learn about him….BUT ugh…ugh….UGH). Sei’s a shell of his former self and while it was hard it was also compelling because his insecurities were long gone whenever Gabe was around. I love them together…!!!!!
Overall, I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed this serious. I can’t wait until Seiran is 100% healed…shoot I’d even settle for the 70% as long as he isn’t the mess he was in this book. Absolutely looking forward to book 3….get this serious…it’s deep but oh so good!!!
