LENGTH: 54 Pages

Brick Colton has been hired to kill Santa Claus—or at least the kindhearted accountant playing Santa for the kids in an orphanage. Brick grew up in an orphanage himself, but that isn’t the only thing bothering him about the contract on Robin Marvington’s life. The details don’t add up, and it’s looking more and more like someone has set Robin up. As Brick investigates, Robin brings some much-needed cheer into his life, the light in Robin’s soul reaching something in Brick’s dark one. But all of that will end if they can’t find the person who wants Robin dead.
A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2015 Advent Calendar package “Sleigh Ride”.
Review:
Brick and Robin are a couple of very interesting men who show us how two people from similar backgrounds can go in totally different directions in life…only to end up together.
Brick’s life has taken him down a dark road that leaves him no room for doubts…until he has some. It’s funny how one little detail can cause all your walls to start crumbling down, isn’t it?
Robin’s life has led him to a different place. He’s happy in his life, mostly but once he meets Brick, he realizes that maybe there’s more to life than what he has.
I liked both these men. They are strong-minded individuals who follow their own codes and while they are different in how they live their lives, in some ways, they are very similar.
This story swept me along with smart dialogue, a smoking hot but somehow sweet sex scene and a compelling premise that is the cause of my only complaint.
It’s a great story and I loved it, but I’ll be honest and say that I would have preferred to read a whole lot more of this story. But then again, when the story’s good, I always want more.
All in all, this was the perfect story to start my holiday season.
