SERIES: Unwrapping Hank #2
AUTHOR: Eli Easton
PUBLISHER: Pinkerton Road
LENGTH: 122 pages
BLURB:
Micah is the hippest, most chill guy on campus. But when he gets the hottest kiss of his life from a cute guy during a game of ‘spin the bottle’, Micah’s cool turns into a puddle of anxious goo. Sure, Micah’s always been a little bi-curious, but he never thought he’d pursue a guy, much less a guy who doesn’t seem to be interested in getting caught.
Leo is passionate about two things: gay rights activism and acting. He stays focused and in control, and he never, ever, dates straight guys. When a chance spin of a bottle at a party has him locking lips with Micah Springfield, president of the Delts, dread-headed, serial-dating, straight Micah, Leo is determined to forget about it, no matter how incendiary the sparks or how gorgeous Micah may be.
Leo has bigger problems. His senior project is directing Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream just before the Christmas break. When his venue cancels at the last minute, Micah offers the use of his parent’s barn in rural Pennsylvania. Leo’s play may be saved, but what about his heart? Between Micah’s sweet lips, his family’s welcoming arms, and a devious bulldog who is determined to play Puck, Leo may find himself falling under the spell of Christmas magic.
REVIEW:
What a wonderful story. I couldn’t wait to start reading so I began the minute I got it 🙂 Unwrapping Hank is one of my favorite Christmas stories and I was more than excited to see a new one coming.
I was happy that despite the announcement that it could be read as a standalone we still had some snippets of Hank and Sloan, and that they indeed were part of this story.
Micah is a sweet, overall nice guy. He is popular and a hit with the girls. He isn’t at all averse to the attention he gets from them, but when he meets Leo and really looks at him something stirs inside of Micah that he didn’t see coming. Nor would he have ever expected it to happen. Leo on the other hand is out and proud, an activist for the LGBT community and very aware of what he is doing.
Then during a party game they are put in a direction both of them are surprised about and it takes quite a bit of planning and daring to get something going. Micah gets help from Sloan & Hank and his family and becomes Leo’s knight in shining armor when the Christmas play Leo organized is almost shot down by a bigoted venue owner. Micah’s family is there to help out and Leo gets time to see a different side of Micah.
With a little sweet but determined help from Sloan and his and Hank’s bulldog Grinch, Leo and Micah might finally be able to see and experience what has been growing from that first unexpected kiss.
Author Eli Easton yet again manages to deliver a wonderful , enthralling story set in a wonderful Christmas setting. Adding to that the bonus of family love, holiday spirit, romance. I am not going to spoil this so I’ll keep it simple – a wonderful bonus relationship, combined with Eli’s outstanding craftsmanship in writing, this story make a very worthwhile read and will certainly get you into the holiday spirit.
