Ruben Oso moves to Manhattan to start his life over as a low-rent bodyguard and stumbles into a gig in a swanky Park Avenue penthouse. What begins as executive protection turns personal working for a debonair zillionaire who makes Ruben question everything about himself.
Watching over financial hotshot Andy Bauer puts Ruben in an impossible position. He knows zero about shady trading and his cocky boss lives barricaded in a glass tower with wall-to-wall secrets and hot-and-cold-running paranoia. Can the danger be real? Is Andy for real?
What’s a bullet catcher to do? Ruben knows his emotions are out of control even as he races to untangle a high-priced conspiracy and his crazy feelings before somebody gets dead. If his suspicions are right, Andy will pay a price neither can afford, and Ruben may discover there’s no way to guard a heart.
REVIEW:
It’s no secret I am a huge fan of the Gay For You genre. It’s probably one of my most favorite subgenre in the M/M genre. I wasn’t the hugest fan of Hot Head. I admit it, please don’t throw things. I know. I’m sorry. I just wasn’t. Pent Up, was something else altogether and I just really liked it, a lot. This was probably the most realistic Gay For You story that I’ve ever read. These two men didn’t feel an attraction and just go with it. They both fought it so hard even when they were giving in they fought and I really enjoyed that aspect of this story. It seemed real to me, genuine and I totally dug it.
Rueben Oso is a recovering alcoholic who’s starting over in his brother’s security firm. New to the hustle and bustle of the city he finds himself in some interesting situations. One of which has him protecting a man from a pick pocket.
Andy Bauer continually finds himself in precarious positions. Being incredibly wealthy while dealing with other people’s wealth has proved to be problematic. He finds himself in need of a bodyguard and Rueben falls right into his lap.
Rueben has been thrown precariously into Andy’s world of wealth and privilege and feels completely overwhelmed. On top of that he’s attracted to his straight boss and being straight himself he’s completely at a loss as to what he should do. I loved the journey of these two men and truly enjoyed them as character. They were good, likeable men….the best kind.
If I had a complaint it would be the fact that there was a lot of corporate takeover mumbo-jumbo in this story. So much so that I got lost from time to time in all the jargon. If this author isn’t in the corporate world on a regular basis he did his research and then some.
I really liked this story. These two were so passionate, so hot, and so caring. I’d absolutely recommend this one…great read!!!
