Why would anyone think three was a crowd?
No. No. No. No. No.
Three is a triangle…and did you know it’s the strongest geometrical shape?
All the best things come in threes…Musketeers, primary colors, three-ringed circuses, stooges, blind mice, little pigs. The list goes on.
Of course they say trouble comes in three too…but we won’t go there… or will we?
**giggle** There’s three sheets to the wind.
And **sigh… drool** there’s three piece suits.
And trust us, it’s no coincidence that there are three ingredients in a BLT.
Or only three elements to the game Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Want to get physical???
Well, there’s… three-legged races… (what were you thinking?)
Political? Of the people, by the people, for the people.
Or creepy? Hear no evil. Speak no evil. See no evil.
Why, three has so much going for it we don’t even need to mention a…
1………… 2………… 3………… sandwich
(substitute your own dream guys)
And of course, there’s: On your Mark. Get Set. And Go!
So Go! Read the short stories in…THREE IS NOT A CROWD
REVIEW:
First off, the blurb does not specifically say that this is a m/m/m anthology, but the cover leads you to believe so. Imagine my surprise when one of the stories is m/m/f. This is just the beginning of my issues with this book.
I tried hard to like this anthology, but there is not much to work with here. The ones that I did sort of like are few and far between. One of the stories features a third who only exists in the mind of one of the other characters. One features the superhero alter ego of one of the main characters. Another features a dog.
Straight off that is 4 of the stories that are other than you are led to believe.
I found the stories to be not really well written and often hard to connect with. A big disappointment for me.
B.A.D. Boys by Lily Velden
One of the easier stories to read features Brad, Danny and Aiden and is told from Brad’s pov. The three men find themselves stuck in an elevator with each other whom they have previously lusted at from afar.
Me. Callum. & Dingoman by Asta Iddnea
This story features Matt, Callum and Callum’s superhero alter ego Dingoman. Dingoman fights crime in disguise. I found it totally absurd.
Knowing How He Feels About You by Eric Gober
Set in the 1980’s, this story features Chad, Sean and Kyle who are college cheerleaders. The story revolves around a team road trip and the growing feelings for each other. I found it very hard to connect to the characters in this story and found myself skipping paragraphs.
Chimera by Alina Popescu
This is the story of David who is having constant dreams about a brother that he feels connected to but cannot find. His whole family tells him that he has never had a brother and that it is all in his mind. David does not know if he is going crazy or if everyone he loves is lying to him. The only person who believes him is his boyfriend Terry. David’s brother Robert emerges when David is awake and communicates with Terry. He indicated that he loves Terry too and wants a relationship with him. The three (?) of them decide to give it a go. This story was just too weird for me. I was never quite sure what exactly Robert is.
Life By Even Numbers by Kay Ellis
This is the story in the book that I liked. Flynn, has serious OCD, he is very shy and is often bullied as a result. Riley works for the same company as Flynn and is drawn to his good looks and his vulnerability. Even though he is in a relationship with Mitch her pursues Flynn anyway. Mitch is intrigued by the changes that Flynn inspires in Riley. I liked how Riley and Mitch took Flynn in and recognized that he was warm and loving and just needed someone to love him and make him feel secure. And Flynn just blossoms under their attention and affection. I actually wish this one had been longer.
Life in 1975 by L.V. Lloyd
Richard and Bill have a good life together until Richard meets Laura at a party and is attracted to her. He decides to see where this attraction leads, while not quite able to give up Bill. I was seriously not expecting to find a woman as part of the trios in the book.
The Proposal by Eddy Lefey
This story features Malcolm and his roomates Jack and Thomas. Jack and Thomas are very into each other and they want Malcolm to join them in bed. This opens up Malcom’s hidden feelings and desires. This story could have been much better if it had been told in first or even second hand. They way it is written is like you are sitting back watching and reading a narration of what is happening.
Chance Encounters by Aimee Brissay
Daniel and Michael are a couple who are very happy together. They decide to visit a sex shop to buy some toys. Once there, they meet Nick and the three of them have an encounter. This one I found did not keep my attention.
Exploring Heaven by Rian Durant
This book starts off being told first person…..by a dog. I did not finish.
